A total of 12 out of 16 teams have made it to the Men's Olympic Football Tournament with four set to join after the AFC U-23 Asian Cup and AFC–CAF play-off. Following the tournament draw on 20th March 2024, the sides were drawn into four groups with only the top two teams qualifying for the knockouts. Hosts France will begin proceedings against the USA on 24th July 2024. The Gold Medal match will be hosted in Parc des Princes, Paris on 9th August 2024.
Gold Medalists in 1984, Hosts France is led by the country’s legendary footballer Thierry Henry and is placed in Group A with USA, New Zealand and the winners of the AFC - CAF playoff. Group B will have two-time Olympic champions Argentina and they will face off Morocco, Ukraine and the team finishing third in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup. The runners-up of the competition will be fighting Egypt, Dominican Republic and last edition’s runners-up Spain. Paraguay, Mali, Israel and the AFC U-23 Asian Cup champions will form Group D.
