We talked about the highest scores by a captain in an innings in Test and ODI cricket so why leave out the third format of the game which is the T20I format because scoring so many runs in 20 overs is even more difficult and especially for a captain is very commendable and so I am here to shine the spotlight on these incredible innings. Some of the players in the list you would have never heard of before but that’s why I am here to make you aware of these heroes who don’t have a bigger stage to perform.
To score a hundred in a T20I match is as impressive as hitting a 200 In an ODI match as the players get less than half the time they get in ODIs and still they manage to play such special knocks but in this article we will focus on the Captains who have done this feat and unfortunately we can only take the Top 5 but I would like to salute all those skippers who have done really well. So, let’s see the Top 5 Highest scores in an innings by a captain in T20I cricket.
Aaron Finch (172 vs Zimbabwe)
To score 172 in a T20I match is like scoring 250 in an ODI match or 300 in a test match because it is only the rarest of the rare times that this happens. This is not only the highest score by a captain but also the highest individual score by a batter in T20IS. This innings was one for the history books and the helpless Zimbabwe bowlers did not know what hit then that day and Aaron Finch also had zero mercy for the bowlers. He only took 76 balls and with 16 fours and 10 sixes meaning 124 runs in boundaries. The most special innings in the shortest format of cricket and it will take something really special to break this record.

Shaheryar Butt (125* vs Czech Republic)
I am sure that nobody has ever heard this name before and I am embarrassed that I too had not heard this name before writing about him here but this incredibly special innings by the Belgium captain of 125* has made him famous and I am acknowledging him and his greatness. This innings blew Czech Republic away and he only took 50 balls to reach this milestone with the help of 11 fours and 9 huge Sixes which makes it 98 runs in boundaries. I will make sure to see more of this amazing player next time.

Shane Watson (124* vs India)
Now this is a name that every Cricket fan knows and heard of. This is simply one of the most destructive batters to ever play the T20 Gabe and this time the opponents were India and Shane Watson was on a rampage this day as he took 7@ balls to smash 124* with the help of 10 fours and 6 sixes but in the end Australia lost this match due to a collective batting effort by India and this innings went in vain but still it was very special to witness such brutal hitting.
Babar Azam (122 vs South Africa)
He is one of the most stylish batters in the world and for him to play such a brutal innings against a very good team in South Africa says a lot about the caliber of better that the captain of Pakistan is. I am a big fan of his batting and would live to see him get lots of runs in the coming years to come. Babar took only 59 balls to make 122 runs and he did it by hitting.15 fours and 4 huge sixes and helped Pakistan chase a big total of 200+ with ease.

Faf Du Plessis (119 vs West Indies)
The last and final innings in this list is from the then South Africa captain Faf Du Plessis. He is one of the best batters in T20 cricket and like we can see in the current season of the IPL, he has not lost his batting touch one bit. In this match he was batting first and with the help of 11 fours and 5 Sixes and in 56 balls only he made such a big score but unfortunately South Africa lost that match even after making 231 as it was a special chasing effort by West Indies to win this match.
