The second most important thing required to become a great WWE superstar is to have great promo skills meaning the WWE superstar needs to be great when he talks because the fans can heckle them if they are not good and they can tell a story just by promos. For example The Rock, Stone Cold Steve Austin became the biggest stars because they were incredible on the microphone and they told stories in the ring. Similarly John Cena, Randy Orton are some of the best in the modern era. Dusty Rhodes was one of the all time great promos and he is still considered one of the all time greats.

The next big thing required to become a great WWE superstar is to have a great character meaning the ones who are not good in the ring but decent in promos can also become great WWE superstars but they just need to have a great character assisting them and then the fans will connect with them more and they become great. The Undertaker is the biggest example of this as he was not one of the best in the ring at first but his character captivated the fans and he became one of the greatest of all time. Similarly Kane, Mick Foley, Bray Wyatt also became greats because they had a layered character. Unfortunately these days there are not many WWE superstars who want to have a unique character.

This is perhaps the most important thing that any WWE superstar needs to have to become great because it is the fans that ultimately decide who will be great. Bret Hart was such a good face that the fans made him great, similarly Ric Flair was a great heel and the fans booed him all the time.
