There have been some truly incredible Returns in the history of SummerSlam and in the recent past it has been the tradition that the biggest Returns of the year happen at SummerSlam. This year there can also be some very big Returns that could happen at SummerSlam this year and the WWE fans who will go to these shows will have the time of their lives.
So, let’s look at the Top 5 Returns in SummerSlam history
1) Roman Reigns – SummerSlam 2020
There can be no other return that can be at the number 1 spot looking at how consequential this return has been for over 3 years. Roman Reigns was out of WWE since the pandemic hit in Match of 2020 and when SummerSlam was held in August 2020 and after the main event Roman Reigns shockingly returned to take out Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman. This was a shocking return and no one had any idea that this was happening. It is safe to say that without this return , WWE would not be where it is today.
2) Becky Lynch – SummerSlam 2021
The very next year in 2021 was the year where the biggest Returns happened and this one was one of the more important ones to happen because the women’s division badly needed it. It was supposed to be Bianca Belair vs Sasha Banks in a rematch and Sasha was out last minute and WWE asked Becky Lynch if she would Return and the absolutely amazing return happened and she won the SmackDown Women’s Championship and then the story was built to perfection. Becky Lynch in 2021 was a very significant return.

3) Damage Ctrl – SummerSlam 2022
Last year, SummerSlam was the first PPV that Triple H had the creative control and he wasted no time in telling a statement. The opening match was Becky Lynch vs Bianca Belair for the Raw Women’s Championship and it was a very good match and after that match the shocking returns started as first it was Bayley who came out and this was the start as then Dakota Kai returned to WWE after months and not a soul knew about this and finally it was Io Shirai who returned to WWE as well and these 3 women formed Damage Ctrl and are still going strong.

4) Brock Lesnar – SummerSlam 2020
At number 4 is yet another big Return from 2020, Brock Lesnar was nowhere even reported to be returning at this show but after the great match between Roman Reigns vs John Cena , the guitar sounds of Brock Lesnar’s entrance theme played and everyone was shocked to the core and the fans lost their minds and Brock Lesnar was sporting a totally different look and he was a face and this return would also prove to be one of the biggest ones in SummerSlam history.
5) Edge - SummerSlam 2019
This SummerSlam was in Toronto Canada and Elias had come before the show to berate the fans and out of nowhere the music of Edge hit and the roof came off that arena as Edge was out and he was looking better than ever and the fans wanted to see Edge give the Spear but he was not medically cleared but he hit his first move in 9 years and the fans as well as WWE executives were shocked because this was not part of the plan and everyone knows what happened at Royal Rumble 2020. Edge at SummerSlam was truly special.
