5 new challengers for Big E following WWE Crown Jewel

Crown Jewel is over and The New Day certainly seem happy. Big E retained his WWE Championship in emphatic fashion against a resilient Drew McIntyre. Xavier Woods finally realized his childhood dream of becoming King when he conquered Finn Balor.

The contest for the WWE Championship began slowly as both men tested each other's strength with neither being able to gain any superiority. Soon, however, the fans were treated to a heavyweight slugfest. After going back and forth with moves and countermoves, Big E put McIntyre down with his finisher, the Big Ending, but the Scottish Superstar didn't surrender. Drew then nailed the champion with his signature Claymore. Big E kicked out in dramatic fashion.

In this article, we look at five new challengers who could look to dethrone Big E for the WWE Championship on the red brand.

1. Edge vs Big E

Edge, much to the delight of his fans, defeated Seth Rollins in the demonic Hell in a Cell at Crown Jewel. The Rated R Superstar, with this victory, created a befitting end to his feud with The Drip God.

Now that Seth is out of the way, the WWE Hall of Famer can finally realize the dream of winning a world title again for which he made a comeback to the squared circle after a nine year hiatus. Having been unsuccessful in conquering the Universal Champion on SmackDown, Edge, now a RAW superstar, can set his sights on Big E's WWE Championship.

If this contest sees the light of day, it will pin two different eras of wrestling against one another with Edge looking to become WWE Champion for a fifth time.

2. Kevin Owens vs Big E

Kevin Owens and Big E are no strangers to each other in the ring, having squared off in a Fatal 4-Way match back in July on SmackDown.

That said, KO is now on Monday Night RAW with WWE planning to give him a much-needed push if the promo they teased last week was anything to go by.

If KO does get a push on RAW, he could certainly contest for Big E's WWE Championship, the title which has eluded him so far in his career. Their bout will be full of physicality, making it an epic watch for the WWE Universe.

3. AJ Styles vs Big E

AJ Styles and Omos at Crown Jewel were unsuccessful again in conquering RK-Bro for the RAW Tag Team Championship.

With two successive defeats, the possibility of challenging the RAW Tag Team Champions again for the titles looks slim for Styles and Omos. This could be reason enough for the Phenomenal One to refocus on his singles career.

To make a mark again on the red brand as a singles competitor, Styles would definitely want to go after champion Big E for the title. Their contest will certainly be an intriguing first, with AJ looking to become WWE Champion for a third time.

4. Finn Balor vs Big E

Finn Balor vs Big E will be an exciting first. The two have never locked horns in the ring.

The Prince was unfortunate to come up short against Xavier Woods at Crown Jewel in the finals of the King of the Ring Tournament. What could be better than to even the score by going after Woods' New Day compatriot Big E for his WWE Championship?

If Balor manages to dethrone Big E, it will be his first reign as WWE Champion which should provide enough motivation for him to enter this feud.

5. Bobby Lashley vs Big E

Bobby Lashley was defeated by WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg at Crown Jewel, who had just one word on his mind: revenge. After the brutal encounter culminated in Goldberg's favor, one would imagine this feud has ended.

That said, the All Mighty has still not forgotten about the debacle suffered at the hands of Big E in the Steel Cage Match a few weeks ago. He will do everything in his power to get the coveted prize back. The contest between the two bulls seems evident in the next few weeks on RAW as Lashley will look to dethrone E to become WWE Champion for a second time.
