The 2022 IPL auction is around the corner as it will take place on 12th and 13th February in Bangalore. This will most probably be the last mega auction in the history of the IPL so all the teams will be looking to build a team not just for a few years but one that can sustain in the long run as well. And for writers like us this is the most exciting time as we get to write what might happen in the upcoming auction.
There have been mega auctions in the past as well but those were for a three year cycle but this one will be for a lot longer than that and the fact that there are 10 teams who will sit at the auction table this time means more players will get picked and more young talents will get the platform to shine. So let’s look ahead to the auction.
Players Distribution for the auction
The most important part of any IPL auction are the various players that will be up for bidding for all the ten teams and so let’s see which Country has how many players represented in the auction. Firstly from India 896 players have registered for the IPL auction and out of those Massive number of players 61 are capped players who have played for India, 692 uncapped Indian players waiting for the opportunity to show what they have to offer, 143 such uncapped Indian players who were part of previous IPL seasons. As we can see Australia has the most number of players registered at 59, and an emerging nation like the USA also has 14 players. 19 countries including India find representation in this list which is absolutely outstanding.
Salary Cap of players
2 Crore: There are 49 players who have put their base price at 2 crore rupees. Some of the Indian names include Ambati Rayadu, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Deepak Chahar, Ishan Kishan, Harshal Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shreyas Iyer, Shikhar Dhawan etc. And a few of the overseas players in this bracelet include David Warner, Adam Zampa, Faf Du Plessis, Jason Roy, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh,Pat Cummins and Trent Boult. So there are a lot of players in this bracket that the teams can buy and make a good core of their teams.
1.5 Crore- A total of 20 players have put their base price in this bracket and they are smart as the teams will go for then more now. Some of these players are Ishant Sharma and Washington Sundar from India and Aaron Finch, Eoin Morgan, David Malan, Glenn Phillips, Jonny Bairstow and Tim Southee and Alex Hales from overseas.
1 crore- 32 players from various countries have put their base price in this bracket and it includes some who could easily have put 2 crores but they played smart. The prominent Indian names in this bracket include Ajinkya Rahane, Jayant Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna and T Natrajan. The Overseas players include Aiden Markaram, Devon Conway, Liam Livingstone, Marnus Labuschagne, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Sherfane Rutherford, Tymal Mills and Wanindu Hasaranga.
There are some Indian uncapped players who have kept their base price at 20 lakh lile Avesh Khan, Shahrukh Khan, Yash Dhull, Rahul Tripathi and even S Sreesanth has kept his base price at 50 lakh.

This phrase is the definition of the IPL and in this upcoming auction as well there will be some players the fans would have never heard of but they will fetch bids and then they will get the opportunity for their talents and their lives will also change as a result.
