In reference to the booklet of the International Sports Science Association, the habit-based nutrition is based on 5 parameters which are usually known as the ‘Five Habits’. To start of the 5 habits, it would be divided into 5 separate blogs which would be posted on an alternate day basis.

Food habits or health-based nutrition is required to the people who have just kick-started their nutrition process or people who have reached Level – 2 of the Fitness Nutrition. This is majorly classified into 5 habits where the individual would get knowledge on why the food intake is prescribed and how would they need to go about it.

Out of the 5 habits, the 1st Habit that we would be discussing in the blog is – ‘Eat Every 2 – 4 Hours’

An average individual in India consumes around 3 full meals everyday namely to be Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. They usually do not have any control over the mid food habits that occur in between these 3 meals. However, this is considered to be an inadequate technique to fill or feed up the body. In case the individual is active on a daily basis, he needs to keep himself well hydrated, to be well stimulated, also needing to keep a calorie count and so on.

However not every individual needs to have 4 – 5 meals a day, it majorly depends on the kind of lifestyle he/she possesses. In order to determine the number of meals to be consumed, an individual should count in the total number of hours the individual is awake and then divide it by 3. Basically, an individual stays awake for 12 hours, the meal count would go up to 4. This is to be observed by a regular working individual. However, depending on the lifestyle, the meals could be adjusted accordingly.

In some situations, an individual refrains himself from eating prior to bed, but if the meals lie between 2 – 4-hour rule, the individual needs to fuel himself irrespective of the time.

In some situations due to work commitments, an individual tends to miss out on a meal and then plans to eat more in the remaining meals. This is not recommended, this would eventually hinder out in the bodily dietary movements and rule should be noted that the individual should not sweat it out by doing any kind of exercises/ work. This could lead to weakness, muscle fatigue, and soreness which could be an effort for the body and which would eventually speed up the lean muscle breakdown to fulfill the body requirements.

This is the 1st habit out of the 5 habits which would be shared later.
