For the 3rd week in a row we have had a Grand Prix and this time it was in Italy after the dramatic one we had in Dutch last weekend. This Grand Prix was important for Max Verstappen as he could get 1 step closer to winning the title for the second time and for the other drivers it was a chance to catch up and try and stop Max from winning it too early. This Formula 1 season has not been as engaging as the last one but it has had its moments and I have enjoyed writing about the different races this year.

Before we get to the results, lots of drivers got grid penalties before the race began like Max Verstappen started at P7. This race was one of the toughest races in the year and there was excitement from the fans to see what was going to happen. Let’s look at the race results.

Race Results

At the start of the race George Russell and Max Verstappen have got a treat start and they are flying. At Lap 4 Charles Leclerc leads George Russell by 1.6 seconds and Max Verstappen is only 1.2 seconds behind George Russell. At Lap 5 Max Verstappen has got into P2 jumping 5 places in 2 Laos as he overtook George Russell and now has the leader in his sights. At Lap 10 Sergio Perez pitted for hard tyres but his right brake looks yo be on fire. At Lap 12 Carlos Sainz jumps through multiple drivers to get up in the standings. Lap 19 and Charles Leclerc has a problem with his engine and it gets bad to worse for Ferrari. Lap 25 and almost all the drivers have pitted and Max Verstappen is in a 13.4 second lead but he needs to pit.

Lap 28 and Max Verstappen has reduced the lead to Charles Leclerc from 10 seconds to 8.7 seconds. Lap 32 and Carlos Sainz does the smart thing and pits for soft tyres which will help him till the end of the race. Lap 34 and Max Verstappen is ahead in the race and Charles Leclerc is 19.5 seconds behind Max when he comes out of the pit. At Lap 36 Lewis Hamilton gets to P7 after he started in P19 and this is a great performance by Lewis. It is Lap 43 and Sergio Perez pits for soft tyres and he has work to do now to get ahead in the Race. Lap 47 and Daniel Ricciardo is out and we have only 4 laps left so a restart looks unlikely. The race finishes behind a safety car and Max Verstappen wins the Italian Grand Prix and he is one step closer to winning the championship.
