This was the first Grand Prix after Max Verstappen became World Champion in Japan and this was another intense race and it was an emotional race because the owner of Red Bull just passed away recently before the race. This was one of the multiple races in the United States which is a market where they have grown a lot. It is good to see more new race circuits being added to the race calendar.
Before we get into the race I want to congratulate Max Verstappen for winning the World Championship for the second year in a row and This time in dominant fashion. It has been a pleasure to write about all your great wins across this year and wish you more success in the years to come. Let’s get to the results of the Race.
Race Results
Max Verstappen takes the lead early in the race and Carlos Sainz has a disaster of a start as his race comes to a halt. Lap 2 and Carlos Sainz is our because George Russell clattered into him and in Lap 3 Russell is given a 5 second penalty. Lap 8 it is and Charles Leclerc is up to P7 starting his race from P12 so a 5 place improvement. Lap 11 and lots of cars are going into the pit. Lap 13 and Max Verstappen already has a 5.2 second lead over Lewis Hamilton. Lap 18 and Daniel Ricciardo has another bad day as he is P18. Lap 23 and it is a huge crash and Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll collide.
Lap 28 and the battle for P3 is heating up as Sergio Perez and Charles Leclerc go at it fiercely. Lap 30 and finally Charles Leclerc goes past Sergio Perez for P3 and Pierre Gasly is handed a 5 second penalty. Lap 34 and Max Verstappen only Has a 1.5 second lead from Lewis Hamilton and it is getting closer. Lap 36 and It was a disaster for Max Verstappen in the pits and now Sergio Perez leads the race and it just became great. Lap 39 and the race is getting good as Max Verstappen overtakes Charles Leclerc for P3 after a fight. Lap 41 and Lewis Hamilton leads the Grand Prix. Lap 42 and it is a disaster for Vettel and Aston Martin as they take 16.8 seconds In pits. Lap 44 and Max Verstappen is only 2.3 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton. Lap 47 and Max Verstappen is 1.6 seconds behind Lewis with 9 laps to go.
Fernando Alonso is up to P6 after suffering such a bad crash so a great recovery. It is Lap 50 and Max Verstappen leads the race again after great racing from the 2 best in the world. Lap 54 and Max Verstappen has a more than 1 second lead From Lewis Hamilton and it looks like this is it. Max Verstappen wins the Austin Grand Prix and his 13th win of the season which is the joint Most.
