Denmark has finalized their Euro 2024 26-member squad traveling to Germany for the tournament. Aside from the newly added talents, the side looks mostly the same with key performers who led them to a magnificent run to the semifinal in the last edition. The team hopes to pull off a miracle again although they failed miserably in the World Cup two years ago, exiting from the group stages. Placed in Group C along with Slovenia, Serbia and their previous edition’s last-four nemesis England, Denmark must be careful in navigating their way to the last-16 stage.
History
Denmark has participated in nine Euros till now with their first tournament in 1964. The Danish Dynamite’s notable success came as the surprise winners of the competition in 1992. Their fairytale was even more remarkable because they entered the edition only because Yugoslavia was disqualified as a result of the breakup of the country. Denmark came second to hosts Sweden in their group ahead of powerhouses England and France, beating the latter in the decider. They faced another heavyweight, the Netherlands, with its squad containing legends like Dennis Bergkamp and Rijkaard in the semifinal. Managed by Richard Møller Nielsen, his side beat the Dutch 5-4 in a thrilling penalty shootout after it ended 2-2 after extra-time. The Dane went on to slew one more giant, record champions West Germany in the final to take the trophy home.

Christian Eriksen is set to feature in another Euro Championship after suffering cardiac arrest on the pitch of the last edition in 2021. Despite falling down the pecking order at his present club Manchester United, the 32-year-old remains the prime contributor from midfield for his national team. His friend-in-need that day, who was first to his aid, Simon Kjaer will lead the side again having capped for the most time in the team’s history with 131. Defensive partners Andres Christensen and Alexander Bah have made it after passing fit from their injury during the club season but Reims' Mohamed Daramy has pulled out due to injury.
