Although most of the time, runouts happen because of the batsman, many times the runouts are because of some extraordinary fielding.

Another Pakistani cricketer, Mohammad Yousuf, who played 273 innings for Pakistan, was also dismissed 38 times after a run-out.


4. Mahela Jayawardene (39):

Legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Mahela Jayawardene is hailed as one of the greatest cricketers. He is the second-most experienced player when it comes to ODI format, 15 behind India’s legendary player Sachin Tendulkar. Mahela batted in 418 matches off the 448 ODI matches for his country. Playing at no. 4, Mahela amassed 12650 runs at a batting average of 33.38. He was dismissed 39 times by runouts.


3. Inzamam-Ul-Haq (40):

Inzamam-Ul-Haq is hailed as one of the greatest players to have played for the Pakistan cricket team. He has played in 378 ODIs, where he batted in 350 innings scoring 11739 runs. Besides his amazing cricketing skills, the Pakistani cricketer is well-known for his reluctance to run between the wickets. He was runout 40 times in his ODI career.


2. Rahul Dravid (40:)

The legendary Indian cricketer, Rahul Dravid, who is hailed as ‘the Wall’ of the Indian cricket team is regarded as one of the greatest players to have played for team India. Rahul played in 344 ODI games while batting in 318 innings, scoring 10,889 runs. Rahul was run out  40 times in his ODI career.


1. Marvan Atapattu (41):

Marvan Atapattu is the leading cricketer to get runout the most number of times in the ODI format of the game. The Sri Lankan opener, who has played 268 matches while batting in 259 innings scoring 8529 runs, was runout 41 times in his ODI career.
