The Indian women’s national cricket team is ready for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. On 27th August 2024, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member squad for the forthcoming tournament.
Due to the tense situation in Bangladesh, the ninth edition of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup has been shifted to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). However, Bangladesh have kept their hosting rights, which means they will participate as hosts at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.
In the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, India Women will start from Group A, where they will face New Zealand Women, Pakistan Women, Sri Lanka Women, and the six-time champions Australia Women.
While there are two groups with five teams in each group in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, only the top two teams in the final points table of each group will advance to the semi-finals of the tournament. If India Women qualify for the semi-finals, they will participate in the first semi-final.
India Women's records in the previous ICC Women's T20 World Cup tournaments
India Women have reached the semi-finals of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup five times (2009, 2010, 2018, 2020, and 2023). Of those semi-finals, India Women qualified for the final only once, during the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 in Australia. However, India Women lost the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2020 final against the hosts Australia Women and finished the tournament as the runners-up.
