Partnerships are one of the most important parts of the game of cricket. Especially in ODIs, where it is a longish innings and batters need to bat together in partnerships to get the team to a big score in the 50 overs. The better the partnership, the more chances that the batting team will end up on the winning side.
There have been lots of big partnerships in ODIs and they have enthralled the viewers for long periods of time. Therefore, it will be very interesting to see which are the top 5 best partnerships in ODI History.
1. Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels (372 Runs):
This match took place at the ODI World Cup in 2015 and it was West Indies vs Zimbabwe. West Indies lost their first wicket in the 2nd ball of the match and from there Chris Gayle and Marlon Samuels took matters into their own hands and started building the innings and when they stitched a partnership, both of them didn’t look back and Gayle took the lead and started smashing sixes everywhere and he hit a double hundred in the match and Marlon Samuels hit a wonderful century and was not out in the end. The Zimbabwe bowlers had no clue what to do and were just spectators in the Gayle and Marlon Samuels show.

2. John Campbell and Shai Hope (365 Runs):
This match took place in 2019 and it was West Indies vs Ireland in a tri nation series. Batting first the openers came out strong and started dominating the Irish bowlers and hit lots of fours and sixes and steadily built a partnership and did not look like getting stopped and in the end they had the best opening stand in ODIs ever and both of them made scores in excess of 170 and the helpless Irish bowlers could only just admire the shot making at display and West Indies bowled out Ireland for 185 in that match and won it quite comfortably in the end.

3. Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid (331 Runs):
This iconic partnership is etched in the memory of every Indian cricket fan and that day these two legends of the game stitched a legendary partnership where they showed class skill of the highest order and they did it against a top quality New Zealand team and the New Zealand bowlers were only spectators on the ground as they saw the ball travelling to the boundary from time to time. Both of these batters scored big hundreds with Sachin hitting 186 and Rahul Dravid hitting 153 not out and the Indian team beat New Zealand comfortably that day bowling them out for only 202 runs.
4. Sourav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid (318 Runs):
This was a match in the 1999 World Cup and it was against that outstanding Sri Lanka team of the 1990s. Both these batters batted in different styles and they both compliment each other so well, Sourav was hitting sixes all over and Rahul was all along the ground hitting fours with ease at every corner, they decimated that legendary Sri Lanka bowling line up with ease and this shows the amount of skills both these greats had and to do it in the pressure of a world cup was more outstanding to witness. India bowled out Sri Lanka for 216 and comfortably who that match.

5. Imam-Ul-Haq and Fakhar Zaman (304 Runs):
This outstanding partnership came against Zimbabwe where both these batters batted brilliantly and completely dominated the Zimbabwe bowling that day ,Fakhar showed no mercy and hit a wonderful double hundred with 5 sixes and Imam hit a wonderful century and Pakistan won that match quite easily bowling out Zimbabwe for 155 runs.
