Asuka is one of the greatest female WWE superstars of the past decade. Even before coming to WWE, she was already a big star in the Japanese wrestling scene and she was very sought after by WWE in 2015 when she was a free agent and the last 6+ years have been proof of why that is the case. Asuka dominated much of her run and was on a 914 day undefeated streak, the longest in modern WWE history. She was an incredible wrestler as well and could bring out the best in each one of her opponents.
Ever since Asuka debuted at NXT in 2015, she was treated like a megastar like she deserved to be treated and she mowed through the entire roster in no time and became champion and she was the best wrestler in NXT the time she was there so realistically there was no one who could believably defeat her, such was her aura and it continued further as well. Let’s take a look into the incredible journey of Asuka till now and look ahead to the future.
NXT Sensation
In August 2015, Asuka became the first Japanese female wrestler to be signed by WWE and there was much excitement around her as the fans have already seen what she was capable of before her WWE days. She debuted on NXT in September of 2015 and immediately made a massive impact so much so that she beat main roster stars like Cameron and the others. She slowly started beating the other female superstars and finally in April of 2016 at Dallas , she submitted the then champion Bayley to win the NXT Women’s championship and it was the arrival of the most dominant era in NXT history. After the win , there was no stopping Asuka as even legends from the past like Mickie James tried to stop Asuka but could not do so. She even beat three other superstars in a Fatal Four Way match. The situation was such that the NXT Women’s roster was getting beaten one by one and even in multi women matches against the likes of Ember Moon, Ruby Riott etc. She would even surpass the incredible record set by Goldberg and hold the title for a record 510 days because of an injury. It is safe to say that she had one of the best NXT stints of all time.

Main Roster Dominance
The dominance which the fans were used to seeing Asuka show in NXT was continued in the main roster as well. She debuted in a match against emna and defeated her in a great match , from there on she was added to Team Raw for the Survivor series match of 2017 and she emerged as the sole survivor because who else could it be ? After that historic performance, she continued to dominate the Raw Women’s division and then came the Royal Rumble where the Women would have their first Royal Rumble match and even in this match there was one winner and that was Asuka as she established herself as one of the greats already in such a short period of time. She chose Charlotte Flair to face at WrestleMania and till that point she beat Nia Jax multiple times and have Nia get best matches as well. Then came the fateful night of WrestleMania where her streak came to an end at the hands of Charlotte Flair.
Second Coming of Asuka
After WrestleMania, she was drafted to SmackDown and immediately she was at the top of the card but Carmella kept winning with nefarious untill finally Asuka defeated other women in a battle royal to earn a shot at the TLC match against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch and that match was a straight up banger and she won the SmackDown women’s championship after Ronda Rousey interfered in the match. In 2028, Asuka would win the WWE Women’s tag team titles with her good friend Kairi Sane to become one of the few triple crown Champions in WWE History and she was a great champion as she her kairi defended the titles very successfully. Then came the Money in the bank of 2020 and Asuka won that match adding to her already impressive list of accolades but as we later found out, she would go on to win the Raw Women’s championship as Becky Lynch was leaving to become a mom and that made her a grand slam champion in WWE
Looking ahead to the future
Asuka is currently injured and recovering and there’s no doubt she will return soon and as the Royal Rumble is around the corner, she could come back as a surprise entrant and showcase her dominance once again and show everyone what they were missing all this while. It would be bad news for all the other women but great news for all her fans.
