Since 1988 , There has been a Royal Rumble match every year but it was only held for the men and the women had to be content with a match lasting barely a few minutes long. Since 2015, things started to change and the women were given more prominent roles within WWE and they began to break glass ceilings one after the other. The 30 women Royal Rumble match was one of the last things left on the list and since 2018, there are not 1 but 2 Royal Rumble matches every year.
There have been 4 women’s Royal Rumble matches so far and each one has been much better than the previous one they had. All the fans are extremely excited for the match and look forward to seeing the current women wrestlers mix it up with the legends of the past. Let’s look at the history so far and see who can be the standout performers in this year’s Rumble match.
2018- A new chapter is written
The first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match was amazing to witness and to all the women involved in this match and the ones who were not played such a huge role in making this a reality. Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch were fittingly the first 2 entrants in the match and as the match went on we got to see Lots, Beth Phoenix, Trish Stratus, Mickie James and other all time legends of the past. The current superstars like Sasha Banks, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss, Natalya and the others stood out in the match. Kairi Sane from NXT made an instant impact but this was the year of Asuka And she dominated the field and won the first ever Women’s Royal Rumble match. After the match ended, we saw the much anticipated Debut of Ronda Rousey and everything changed at that moment.
2019- The Year of Becky Lynch
This year there was a credible story going into the Royal Rumble match as compared to the nostalgia filled match last year. This rumble was way more professional and intense and the women were in it to win it. Charlotte Flair was the first star of the match as she started to dominate the match and we also saw the debut of several NXT stars like Xia Li, Rhea Ripley, Ember Moon among others but it was all about Becky Lynch and after Lana got injured, Becky cane out and was inserted into the match, first she took out Nia Jax and then she eliminated Charlotte Flair to win the entire thing and main event WrestleMania.

2020- The Queen rises again
This was a true Royal Rumble match in every sense of the word, an interesting story, debut of new and fresh superstars and legends returning making sense. During the start of this Rumble match , it was the Bianca Belair show as she just kept on eliminating people and got a total of 8 eliminations and in this year we got to see lots of potential future Superstars from NXT enter the match like Candice Lerae, Mia Yim, Dakota Kai and legends like Beth Phoenix, Kelly Kelly and Mighty Molly entertained the fans greatly. Then the winner entered Charlotte Flair and she and Shayna Baszler were the top 2 and in the end she used her brain to outsmart Shayna and win.
2021+ The EST rises
This Royal Rumble was the Bianca Belair show just like last year but she would go one better and win the entire thing coming from entry number 3. Bayley was the first entrant in the match. This Royal Rumble match saw the return of the legends Victoria and Torrie Wilson and the fans at home loved every second of it. Shotzi Blackheart and Toni Storm made a name for themselves in the rumble match as well, Alexa Bliss was the most bizarre entry in the match but it was Rhea Ripley and Bianca Belair who were the top 2 in the match and Bianca overpowered Rhea to win the match and make history.
2022- Whose year is it?
After a gap of 2 years the Royal Rumble will be held in front of the WWE universe with over 60000 fans watching live and some of the entrants for this Rumble match have been announced so far. The biggest of them all is Impact Knockouts Champion Mickie James entering the match as a champ from another company as well as the Bella Twins, Lita and Summer Rae have been announced as well. It could well be the year of the EST again but the fans would like Liv Morgan to win. Alexa Bliss is a wild card and she could do anything and we will get to see more awesome surprises as well because WWE would want to make the first Royal Rumble back in 2 years an all timer.
