England all-rounder and present Test captain, Ben Stokes is now leading the table of most Test sixes. The left-handed batter just broke former New Zealand cricketer Brendon McCullum’s record of most Test sixes during the pink-ball Mount Maunganui Test against the hosts New Zealand.
Bazball’s England continued their spectacular new era in the first game of the two-match away Test series against New Zealand as the confident English side claimed a big win. In that day/night pink-ball Mount Maunganui Test, England won by 267 runs, and the skipper Ben Stokes had an important role in their second innings.
Ben Stokes: 109 Test sixes
Ben Stokes, who scored 19 runs in the first innings with three fours, scored 31 runs off 33 balls in the second innings with the help of three fours and two sixes. During their second innings, the left-handed batter Stokes smashed two back-to-back sixes to the Blackcaps right-arm pacer Scott Kuggeleijn.
With his first six of their second innings, the Christchurch-born English all-rounder surpassed his present national team Head Coach Brendon McCullum (107 Test sixes) to become the most Test six- hitter with 108 Test sixes. He completed the Test match with 109 Test sixes.

England won by 267 runs
After New Zealand chose to field first, England declared on 325/9. Later, the hosts were all out on 306 runs as the visitors had the 19 runs lead. While the English team scored 374 runs in their second innings, they set up the big 394 runs target for the Blackcaps in the fourth innings. New Zealand were bundled out for only 126 runs as England took the 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series with one to go.
English player Harry Brook won the Player of the Match award for scoring 89 and 54 runs respectively.
