Out of the more than 2500 Test matches played in the 140+ years of its history there have been few cricket grounds around the world that have held more test matches than the others and those grounds have become iconic and all the players want to play in these grounds and make a name for themselves. Grounds like the Lord’s, MCG etc are some of the grounds that players want to play in.

Nowadays there are so many cricket grounds in every country that cricket is played in and they have become excellent grounds for test cricket and the players get to play in more cities as well. So, let’s see which are top 10 grounds where the most test matches have been played at.


1. Lords Cricket Ground (141 Test matches and counting): 


The Home Of Cricket, the iconic Lord’s ground has rightfully hosted the most test matches in history at 141 currently and it will obviously grow more and more as time goes on. Since the year 1884 , test matches have been played there and it is the dream of every cricketer to play a test match there and score runs and take tickets for their country. For example Sourav Ganguly from India made an instant name for himself when he got a 10/ in his debut test innings here.

 

2. Melbourne Cricket Ground (114 Test matches and counting): 


Another one of the most iconic cricket grounds and until recently the largest cricket stadium in the world. Since the year 1877 test matches have been held here and it can be intimidating for the opposition team at first playing a boxing day test match here but performing here will give a player instant stardom.

 

3. Sydney Cricket Ground (110 Test matches and counting): 


Another great cricketing ground in Australia, the iconic SCG has also hosted 110 test matches and more to come. It is a ground where the new year’s test match is held every year and it is a great spectacle for everyone and the players want to stand up and perform for their country at the biggest stage.

 

4. Kennington Oval (103 Test matches and counting): 


Another stadium in London has hosted more than 100 test matches throughout the years and it is a very beautiful ground and the players want to play here and win test matches against England because it is Hard.

The most beautiful cricket ground in Australia and one of the best cricketing stadiums in the world and the day night test matches here are something special. Opposition teams find it tough to beat Australia on this ground so doing well here means a lot to the players as well.

 

7. Headingley (79 Test matches and counting): 


The cricket ground where miracles happen nd it has happened more than once and some of the most thrilling test matches took here like the Ben Stokes special a few years ago so the teams who play here are hoping to play their best cricket and perform.

 

8. Basin Reserve (65 Test matches and counting): 


This cricket ground in New Zealand is number 8 on this list and that is a very big thing for New Zealand cricket that so many test matches have been played at this great stadium. The teams find it tough to beat New Zealand here so it is always a good contest here .

 

9. Trent Bridge (64 Test matches and counting): 


Another cricket ground in England featuring on this list is not surprising because this is the nation where the most test cricket is played along with Australia. This is a great cricketing ground and both the batters and bowlers can do well here and here noticed by everyone.

 

10. Brisbane Cricket Ground (64 Test matches and counting): 


The Cricket Ground which has been the fortress for Australia over the years and the opposition teams used to get scared with the bounce and pace of this pitch but in 2021 ,the Indian team did something in this ground that will forever will be etched in cricketing history. Hopefully more teams beat Australia here in future test matches.
