IPL 2022 is set to begin in April. There are a lot of changes made for the upcoming edition. 2 new teams of Ahmedabad and Lucknow are a new addition to the tournament. This is the second time in IPL's history that 10 teams participated in the tournament. However, apart from the addition of these 2 teams, what makes IPL 15 special is the mega auction.
All the teams were asked to retain a maximum of 4 players. Either 3 Indians or 1 foreigner or 2 Indians and 2 foreigners. The rest of the players will be released and will go under the hammer in the mega auction that will take place in the first week of January 2022.
Last night, all franchises released their list and it includes, a lot of shockers as well as surprises. The list of the players retained is as follows.
Chennai Super Kings
Chennai Super Kings used their maximum limit of retention and retained 4 players.

Delhi Capitals
Delhi Capitals followed the same path as CSK and they too retained 4 players.

KKR retained 4 players. KKR is the only team to retain 2 foreigner players.

Mumbai Indians
Mumbai Indians retained 4 players and their purse value going into the auction is 48 Crores.

Quoting the words of Zaheer Khan, retaining Rohit, Bumrah and Pollard was an easy choice, but they had to scratch their heads while picking their 4th option. Eventually, SKY made the list which means that the likes of Pandya Brothers have been released by the Indians.
Punjab Kings
Unlike other teams, Punjab Kings retained only 2 players from their squad. Which means that they have the highest purse of 66 Crores going to the auction.

The biggest shock of the day came from the Punjab Kings camp when it was learned that KL Rahul has been released by the franchise. As the news spread like fire on social media, Anil Kumble cleared the news that KL Rahul wanted to not renew his contract. Hence KL Rahul will be seen playing for a new franchise this year.

The Royals retained 3 players from their squad. Their purse value going to the auction is 57 Crores.
