A new Formula 1 season has started and the first race of the new season will be held in Bahrain at the Bahrain International Circuit and so we are here to talk about this track that all the drivers will be racing on. Being the first race of the season is a huge honor.
The Start
Bahrain International Circuit is an ultramodern motorsport facility in the heart of the Sakhir desert. It has been designed by the renowned German engineer Hermann Tilke. It cost approximately $150 million to make the entire facility and it took less than 18 months to build the whole thing. The BIC features the FIA certified track layouts which is more than anywhere else in the world. The Grand Prix is 5.412 kms regularly hosts events like the Formula 1.
On 4th April 2004, the BIC became the first ever track in the middle East to host a Formula 1 World Championship Race and it was a matter of great pride for the whole nation. This one thing not only opened doors for new opportunities in the entire region but also in business and tourism.
The Legacy
After more than 15 years of having the first race there ,it is regarded as one of the most friendly and most exciting races of the F1 calendar. It is also one of the most watched Grand Prix races because it is the first one and it is commercially very viable as well. For a number of years the BIC held the distinction of being the home of motorsport in the Middle East. The track is very good to race on and the drivers love coming here and it is the perfect start for the F1 season.

- It has won the award for the FIA Institute of Excellence of impeccable track facilities which means that this track is in impeccable shape and it is safe for the drivers and racing on this track is of the Highest standard.
- It was inaugurated in April 2004 and it became the first circuit in the middle East to hold a F1 Grand Prix. It opened many more opportunities for other nations in the region.
- The track length is 5.412 kms which is very good and for the racers it is a test of their driving skills and the best will come out on top.
- There have been 17 Grand Prix races in this circuit since it wax first launched in 2004. And there will be many more to come.
- There are 495 light posts around the Grand Prix track to illuminate the circuit and show the beauty of the surroundings nearby.

- A nice bonus fact for all the plant lovers is that there are 1120 Palm Trees around the track which helps in showing the greenery.
- The most number of wins in the BIC is by Lewis Hamilton with 5 Grand Prix wins on this track and the constructors with the most wins are Ferrari and Mercedes with 6 wins each.
