Top 5 games to watch this weekend

Almost all top leagues are nearing their end and only the last few match days are left. Apart from Italian Serie A, all other top four leagues in Europe are yet to be decided. Even in Serie A, teams are fighting for the Champions League spots. Outside of the top five leagues, Ajax have sealed their Eredivisie title this season with 79 points from 31 games and three games remaining.

With many leagues and Champions League spots yet to be decided, let’s take a look at the top 5 games to watch this weekend.

1. Barcelona vs Atletico Madrid (La Liga)

Country – Spain

Date – 8th May 2021

Time – 7:45 PM IST

Team form:

ATM: D W W L W

FCB: W W W L W

Atletico Madrid are on top of the table in La Liga with 76 points from 34 games. Real Madrid and Barcelona are levels on points with 74 points but due to head to head stats, Real Madrid are on second and Barcelona are on the third. The Catalan giants host league leaders at the Camp Nou on Saturday. If Barcelona manages to win, it would send them top of the table. If Real Madrid drop points against Sevilla, Barcelona would be the new leader of the league. Atletico Madrid would need just a draw to stay top.

2. Juventus vs AC Milan (Serie A)

Country – Italy

Date – 10th May 2021

Time – 12:15 AM IST

Team form:

JUVE: W L W D W

 ACM: W W L L W

3rd placed Juventus face 4th placed AC Milan in an exciting top-four clash in Serie A this Sunday. Both teams are level on points and are being chased by 5th placed Napoli, who have 67 points from as many games. A win for either team would solidify their position in the top four. After winning nine consecutive Serie A titles, Juventus have conceded the title to Inter Milan. AC Milan started the 2020-21 season strongly, but failed to capitalize on their lead and now sit fourth.

3. Borussia Dortmund vs RB Leipzig (Bundesliga)

Country – Germany

Date – 8th May 2021

Time – 7:00 PM IST

Team form:

DORT: L W W W W

RBL: W D L W W

With just three games remaining, Dortmund are in fifth with 55 points and are just one point behind the Champions League spot. A win would be a massive boost for Dortmund’s Champions League qualification. RB Leipzig, on the other side, are second in the Bundesliga and have already secured their Champions League spot. However, they are 7 points behind leaders Bayern Munich and would only win if Bayern fails to win all their games.

4. Manchester City vs Chelsea (Premier League)

Country – England

Date – 8th May 2021

Time – 10:00 PM IST

Team form:

MCI: W W W W W

CHE: D W D W W

Manchester City face Chelsea in an exciting top-four clash on Saturday. The Citizens are on top of the Premier League table with 80 points from 34 games, 13 points ahead of second-placed Manchester United. Manchester City have been incredibly good this season and have a chance of doing the Champions League and Premier League double. Chelsea are fourth and a win would maintain their 3 points gap from 5th placed West Ham.

5. Real Madrid vs Sevilla (La Liga)

Country – Spain

Date – 10th May 2021

Time – 12:30 AM IST

Team form:

RM: W D D W L

SEV: W W W W L

Second-placed Real Madrid faces fourth-placed Sevilla in an amazing top-four La Liga clash this weekend. All current top-four team in La Liga are facing each other this weekend and this weekend could be a title decider. Real Madrid would hope that their city rivals lose on Saturday. Sevilla have 70 points from 34 games and have already sealed their Champions League spot. But a win would help them improve their rankings and who knows, win La Liga.
