The Premier League's level of competition is practically unrivalled in world football, hence teams being undefeated at home is a rare occurrence. In their 1369 days of domination at Anfield, defending champions Liverpool radiated an aura of greatness, but a defeat to Burnley on January 21, 2021, brought an end to a remarkable run that altered the club's future in the tournament.
The Reds have gone 68 Premier League games without losing at home, dating back to April 2017. Christian Benteke's brace on his return to Merseyside with Crystal Palace got the job done on that particular day. That result, on the other hand, would set off a run of form at home that had only been matched once before in Premier League history. We look at how Liverpool's undefeated run compares among the best in the division's history after a run that lasted more than three calendar years was brought to a shocking end.
5. Manchester United - 35 home games unbeaten (December 1994-November 1996)
Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United dominated the Premier League in the early 1990s, establishing themselves as a winning machine for much of the decade. United were looking for a three-peat in 1994/95 after winning successive crowns the previous two seasons, but a home setback to Nottingham Forest in December dashed their chances in a season they finally finished second to big-spending Blackburn. Ferguson's side would recapture their title the following season, staying undefeated at home for the whole 1995-96 Premier League season. Before losing to Chelsea in 1996, the team had gone 35 games without losing.
4. Manchester United - 36 home games unbeaten (December 1998-December 2000)
The Red Devils were unbeatable under Ferguson and are again making it in the list. Despite dominating for the majority of the decade, things may have become more difficult after Middlesbrough won 3-2 at Old Trafford in December 1998. Ferguson's United, like they often did, rallied and went on a fantastic run that resulted in an unprecedented Treble later that season. The club went on a 36-game winning streak before losing to arch-rivals Liverpool in 2000, with Danny Murphy scoring the game's only goal, one of three winners the midfielder would net at the Old Trafford.

3. Manchester City - 37 home games unbeaten (December 2010-December 2012)
The Abu Dhabi United Group's investment in Manchester City in 2008 ushered in a new era in English football, and 13 years later, the blue half of Manchester is still one of the most powerful powers in the league. City's victories were built on a strong home record, with the team going 37 games without losing between December 2010 and December 2012. They went on an almost two-year run after losing to Everton at the Etihad, with Robin van Persie's stunning stoppage-time winner securing Manchester derby victory for city rivals United.
2. Liverpool - 68 home games unbeaten (April 2017 – January 2021)
In April 2017, former Liverpool player Christian Benteke scored a brace for Crystal Palace at Anfield, marking a watershed moment in the club's history. In their quest to capture their first Premier League title, the Reds rewrote the record books. Jurgen Klopp's side has since recovered from that setback and has mostly gone from strength to strength, evolving into one of Europe's top teams. Burnley defeated Liverpool for the first time in 69 games, and the Clarets won at Anfield for the first time in 46 years.
1. Chelsea - 86 home games unbeaten (February 2004 – October 2008)
Claudio Ranieri's Chelsea reign came to an end in February 2004 as Arsenal's Invincibles won 2-1 at Stamford Bridge. The 86-game unbeaten streak began in the last days of Claudio Ranieri's reign in 2004 and lasted until October 2008, when Luis Felipe Scolari took over as manager at Stamford Bridge. Jose Mourinho deserves all of the credit for the club's record-breaking 86-match winning streak. Until a Xabi Alonso winner for Liverpool in October 2008, they had an 86-game winning streak.
