It’s a time of merriment at Anfield. Liverpool is at the 25-point lead at the top of the PL table and won the UCL to make their tally 6 last season. Needless to say, the players are in the form of their lives and they would like to keep it this way for a long time to come.
Liverpool last won their league back in 1989-90, even before the Premier League started and standing on the verge of it after 30 years, seems like a dream come true for most fans- who have never seen their team celebrate a league win.
Liverpool is also on the verge of crossing another milestone in PL history, to be the 2nd club to win the PL without losing any of the 38 games. The first one was Arsenal in the 2003-04 season. To commemorate the special event, a golden PL was commissioned for them. Since then, no other team has won it. Playing 26 games, Liverpool has already won 25 of them, drawing only 1. The team is playing like real contenders of the Golden PL losing only two games, that too in the Champions League which they are defending.
Arsenal, on the other hand, the one with their name on the Golden Trophy is halfway in the table at 10th and are trying really hard not to go down anymore. Drawing 13 of 26 games and 4 of the last 5 they can only hope to end their season as soon as possible.
Liverpool started their season on a high note registering a 4-1 victory over Norwich City. In due course throughout the 26 matches played till now, Liverpool has beaten every top 10 teams except for Manchester United with whom they drew back in October. Some of the resounding score lines in the PL for Liverpool are: -
Liverpool 3 – 1 Arsenal
Chelsea 1 – 2 Liverpool
Liverpool 2 – 1 Leicester City
Liverpool 2 – 1 Tottenham Hotspurs
Liverpool 3 – 1 Manchester City
Liverpool 5 – 2 Everton
Liverpool 4 – 0 Southampton
Liverpool 0 - 1 Atletico Madrid
Dominating their way through the season they are expected to go all the way in prime fashion as others look in awe. Klopp the mastermind behind this has executed his team in a way where the team is being hailed as “One of The Best” in Europe and if he can continue the form and maintain the quality, it won’t take long for Jurgen Klopp to register his name in the hall of fame.
What are your thoughts on Liverpool’s form? Are they likely to win the Golden PL?
