Top 5 Unsold Players at Women’s Premier League Auction 2023

With so much good news across yesterday with so many women getting their due and only a limited number of slots were available per team there were bound to be some big players who went unsold at the auction and there were quite a few that missed the cut. They were from across nations, with varying skills and some were absolutely shocking.

Some of these players deserved a contract but a few other players were given preference by the teams.

So let’s look at the Top 5 Unsold Players at Women’s Premier League Auction

1) Suzie Bates – New Zealand

One of the most shocking names that went unsold was that of Suzie Bates of New Zealand. Everyone thought that she would get a deal because of how good she has been and her impact on the women’s game. She has played 139 T20IS for New Zealand and in those Matches she has scored 3683 runs at a good average of 29.23 with 1 century and 23 half centuries. She has also taken 55 T20I Wickets for New Zealand so all the teams have missed a big opportunity.

2) Laura Wolvaardt – South Africa

She is one of the younger players that went unsold and another one of those players that should have been picked by one of the teams. She was one of the rising stars of world cricket and in 45 T20IS she had made 778 runs for South Africa at an average of 28.74 with 4 half centuries. Maybe she will be sold next year in the mini auction so she should not lose hope.

3) Dani Wyatt – England

This is an absolute shocker considering how big a player she is and how good she is and has been for England over the years. She is the perfect sfe to play this league for a number of years. She is a huge fan of Royal Challengers Bangalore and they should have gone for her. In a whopping 138 T20IS for England she has made 2249 runs at an average of 21.41 with 2 hundreds and 10 half centuries. She has also taken 45 wickets for England. She will apply next year and maybe she will be one of the players h in demand in the mini auction.

4) Chamari Athapaththu – Sri Lanka

The only player from Sri Lanka that was thought to get a deal for sure and the fact that she was not sold is sad because there will be no representation from Sri Lanka in this league. Chamari Athapaththu is someone who can bat the long innings as well as bat aggressively when needed. For Sri Lanka she has played 95 T20IS and she has scored 2054 runs at an average of 22.57 with 1 hundred and 5 half centuries. She has also taken 31 wickets for Sri Lanka.

5) Alana King – Australia

Almost all the big Australian players got picked at the auction but the one glaring miss was that of Alana King. She is one of the best spinners in world cricket and she can take wickets at any point in the match so she will get picked next year as well when the teams need a little bettering. She has played 68 Matches for Australia and in those she has taken 54 wickets at an average of 25.33.
