Women’s Premier League is ready for its third season, as WPL 2025 will begin on 14 February 2025. The tournament will run till 15 March 2025. Five teams are ready for the new season.
Before the WPL 2025, we experienced some big money spending during the auction, to which 19 players were added, including five overseas names. The WPL 2025 auction had four names with crores, including one overseas name Deandra Dottin from the West Indies, as Gujarat Giants spent INR 1.70 crore for her.
The other three Indian crorepati names in the WPL 2025 auction were Simran Shaikh (INR 1.90 crore by Gujarat Giants), G Kamalini (INR 1.60 crore by Mumbai Indians), and Prema Rawat (INR 1.20 crore by Royal Challengers Bengaluru).
Mumbai Indians won the inaugural edition of the Women's Premier League (2023). Meanwhile, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who won the WPL 2024 title, will play the WPL 2025 as the defending champions. In both the first two WPL editions, Delhi Capitals finished as the runners-up.
