A few days ago, Cori 'Coco' Gauff took the Tennis World by surprise in Wimbledon 2019 when she defeated the 7-time grand slam champion, Venus Williams.

Rising teen sensation, Cori 'Coco' Gauff shook the world with her unbelievable run at the Wimbledon Championships 2019. The 15-year-old burst forth in the first week of the Championships 2019. However, she could not get past through the round of 16 at the All England Lawn Tennis Club but the teen star has already astonished the world with her quick rise to the top. 

The American teen is a former World No.1 junior player. Coco Gauff began her junior career at the age of 13 when she joined the ITF Junior Circuit. Gauff was a confident player from the very start of her career as she skipped directly to Grade A and Grade 1 level tournaments, which are the highest level tournaments at the ITF Junior Circuit. 

After impressing everyone at a Grade 1 event, she made her Junior Grand Slam debut at the US Open 2017. Cori Gauff then climbed her first ladder for success when she reached the finals of the US Open without dropping a set. However, she was defeated by Amanda Anisimova in the finals. Coco Gauff became the youngest girls finalist in the history of the US Open. 

After a quick success in the 2017 season, Gauff lost her opening match at the Australian Open in the following year and did not play a single tournament until the French Open. The American then won her maiden junior grand slam title at the Parisian clay. She also became the 5th youngest girls champion to lift the Roland Garros title. After one month, Coco Gauff also became the World No. 1 Junior, winning another Grade 1 tournament.

Coco Gauff then reached the quarterfinals of the last two major tournaments of the season. However, she fared better in the doubles side as she won the US Open 2018 Doubles title. Gauff also represented the United States at the Junior Fed Cup in 2018, where she helped her team to win the title after winning her singles and doubles match. She ended the year with another Grade A event at the Rose Bowl. 

Cori "Coco" Gauff did not qualify for the French Open 2019 as she lost the second round of the qualifiers. However, she became the youngest player in the Open Era to qualify for the ongoing Wimbledon Championships at the age of 15 years. 

In her debut at the main draw, she stunned the 7-time grand slam champion, Venus Williams, in straight sets in the first round. She then defeated the grass court specialist, Magdalena Rybarikova in a similar fashion. The American was troubled in the third round where she saved two match points to reach the second week at the All England Lawn Tennis Club. 

However, Simona Halep ended the dream run of Cocoa Gauff after defeating her in straight sets but the 15-year-old has made a statement of her rise in the tennis world. It will be interesting to see how she performs in the upcoming tournaments.
