Atletico Madrid has always been a producer of goal-scoring machines and they have never lacked center-forwards in their team. The team to challenge both FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in the premier league has now started dominating the European Stage too. Goalkeepers and Striker are two things this team always dominated in. 

There have been a whole lot of no. of goal scorers for their team and here is a list of the Top 5 goal scorers this team has ever had.

 

1. Antoine Griezzman

Now playing for FC Barcelona, Griezzman was a proper striker who was the club’s all-time leading goal scorer. In his tenure for Atletico Madrid, Griezzman scored 133 goals and provided 56 assists. The Frenchman reached great heights and was among the best strikers in the world.

Antoine joined Atleti from Real Sociedad on 28 July 2014 with a fee of 30 million pounds with a buyout clause. He scored his first goal in September and he never looked back since. In the span of 4 years, he then became the club’s leading goal scorer. During his time at Atletico Madrid, he won Europa League and UEFA Super Cup. Individually, he was the second runner up for Ballon D’or awards in the year 2018.

Later in the year 2019, he joined his team’s rivals FC Barcelona for 120 million pounds.

 

2. Fernando Torres

Nicknamed as El Nino, Torres joined Atletico due to his grandfather’s devotion towards the team. He progressed through the team’s youth academy system and made his first-team debut in 2001. He played for Atletico Madrid from 2001 to 2007 after which he joined Premier League giants Liverpool for 20 million which was the club record fee at that time.

He continued his excellent goal-scoring form even for Liverpool and also for Chelsea which he later joined in the year 2011. Switching clubs from Chelsea, he went to AC Milan in August of 2014 and then joined Atletico back again in December of 2014.

In his overall tenure at Atletico Madrid, he scored stunning 121 goals and 16 assists and he was the leading goal scorer of the club until Griezzman overcame his record.


3. Sergio Aguero

Sergio Kun Aguero is one of the greatest strikers in the world right now. He started the career at an Argentine club called Independiente where he became the youngest player to play in that league at the age of just 15yr and 35 days.

He joined Atletico Madrid in the year 2006 for a transfer fee of 23 million pounds. He astounded everyone with his performances for the club as he scored 101 goals in just 234 appearances becoming the third-highest goal scorer for the club. He won both Europa League and UEFA Super Cup.

He then joined Manchester City with an undisclosed fee of around 35 million pounds and he scored a late winner against Queen Park Rangers in his debut season instantly making a name of himself.

 

4. Diego Forlan

Similarly like Sergio Aguero, Diego Forlan also started his career at Independiente. In the year 2002, he sealed a move to Manchester United where he won the Premier League and an FA Cup. Then in 2004, he moved to Villareal and had an outstanding first season scoring 25 altogether. After two more successful stints at Villareal, he finally joined Atletico Madrid.

He joined Atletico Madrid in the year in 2007 right after Sergio Aguero when Torres departed. He scored in the final of the Europa League and helped his team lift the European Cup. He scored 96 goals in 198 matches and had 32 assists in his tenure.

He then, later on, changed various clubs and even played for Mumbai City for a while in August 2016 and again switched clubs. He finally took retirement on 7th August 2019.

 

5. Manolo

Manolo Sanchez Delgado was a Spanish player who used to play for Atletico Madrid. He played most of his career in La Liga playing around 3oo matches during that time.

Manolo joined Atletico Madrid in the year 1988 from the club Real Murcia who he himself held promote from second division to first division. He formed an attacking partnership with Paulo Futre and he scored 76 goals in 243 matches.

Manolo retired from the game after spending just two years with CP Merida after which he started coaching the lower leagues in the second division.
