In the first match of the two-match Test series between the hosts West Indies and the visitors India, the Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became the third Indian bowler to reach the 700 international wickets milestone.
Windsor Park (Roseau, Dominica) is hosting the Test series opener, where both West Indies and India also started their journey in the 2023-2025 ICC World Test Championship. After West Indies chose to bat first, Ravichandran Ashwin’s fifer destroyed the Caribbean batting line-up to only 150 runs.
It was Ashwin’s 33rd five-wicket haul in Test as well as international career. During that five-wicket haul, where he finished with the bowling figures of 24.3-6-60-5, Ashwin completed 700 wickets in his international career. At the end of that innings, the off-spinner collected 702 international wickets in 351 innings.

In that same innings of the 2023 Roseau Test, when Ashwin bowled the Caribbean opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul for 12 runs, it was the 95th bowled dismissal by Ashwin in his Test career.
Surpassing the legendary Indian leg-spinner Anil Kumble, who bowled 94 times in Test cricket, Ashwin now holds the record for most wickets taken bowled by an Indian bowler. At the end of that innings, Ashwin was in the ninth place in the list of most wickets taken bowled with 95 wickets.
