South African wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock shattered some great records with the brutal second-highest knock in his ODI career with 174 runs against Bangladesh at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023. Apart from becoming the first wicketkeeper-batter to score 150+ runs in the ODI World Cup history, De Kock also set up a record number of 150+ ODI scores as a wicketkeeper-batter.
After the Proteas side chose to bat first against Bangladesh in the 23rd game at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Quinton de Kock strongly guided the South African team to another powerful ODI total. After completing his third CWC 2023 hundred and 20th ODI century in 101 balls, De Kock didn’t give up instead the left-handed batter became more dangerous.
Quinton de Kock scored 174 runs, the highest individual score by a wicketkeeper-batter in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup
While De Kock completed his third 150 ODI runs in 129 balls, he scored 174 runs in 140 balls with the help of 15 fours and seven sixes. Ultimately, Hasan Mahmud dismissed the left-handed opening batter in the 46th over.
Finally, South Africa scored 382/5 in 50 overs.
During that 174-run knock, De Kock put his name in some special record books. Some of these stats are as follows:

Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist held the previous highest score record by wicketkeeper-batter in Cricket World Cup history with 149 runs against Sri Lanka in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 Final.
Check List 2: De Kock’s 174 was the second-highest score by a South African batter in the ODI World Cup history. The record is 188 not out by Gary Kirsten against UAE in the ICC Cricket World Cup 1996.
Check List 3: De Kock’s 174 was the fourth-highest ODI score by a wicketkeeper-batter. His highest ODI score was 178 vs Australia in 2016 Centurion ODI was the second highest ODI score in this list, after Indian wicketkeeper-batter MS Dhoni’s 183 not out (vs Sri Lanka in 2005 Jaipur ODI).
Check List 4: De Kock became the first wicketkeeper-batter to score more than two 150+ ODI scores. The left-handed South African batter has recorded three 150+ ODI scores.
