Team India have kicked off the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia with a thrilling last-ball victory against their arch-rivals Pakistan in the fully crowded Melbourne Cricket Ground. With that win, India created a new history by breaking Australia’s record for most wins in international cricket in a calendar year.
In 2003, Australia broke their previous record (winning 35 matches in 1999) of most international wins in a calendar year by winning a total of 38 international matches. It was the year when Ricky Ponting-led Australia dominantly won the ICC Cricket World Cup, which was their third ODI WC trophy as well as the second successive ODI WC trophy.

In 2022, while the cricket world is busy in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia, India have started this tournament by breaking Australia’s 19-year-old cricket world record of most wins in international cricket in a calendar year.
In their first game of the Super 12 stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 (Group 2), India beat Pakistan in a final-ball thriller at Melbourne. It was their 39th international win in 2022 as they broke Australia’s previous record in style. India will play more international matches in 2022 as this record will surely extend more strongly.
