They took 96 balls to achieve this, with Hales contributing 86 runs and Buttler adding 80. It is also the highest opening partnership for England in T20Is and 2nd best overall. England won the match by 10 wickets and 24 balls remaining.


2. 168 - Rilee Rossouw and Quinton de Kock vs Bangladesh

South African cricketers Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw's partnership of 168 runs against Bangladesh is the second-highest in T20 World Cup history. This partnership, which occurred in the Super 12 match of the 2022 T20 World Cup, lasted for 85 balls, with Rossouw contributing 96 runs off 47 balls and de Kock adding 63 runs off 38 balls.


3. 166 - Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara vs West Indies


Sri Lankan legends Mahela Jayawardene and Kumar Sangakkara hold the third position for the highest partnerships in T20 World Cups, with a massive 166-run stand for the second wicket against the West Indies at Bridgetown in 2010. This partnership, which took 99 balls, saw Jayawardene contributing 86 runs off 50 balls and Sangakkara adding 68 runs off 49 balls. It also stands as the highest run partnership for Sri Lanka in T20Is for any wicket.

 

4. 152* - Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan vs India


The first 2021 world cup match for both the teams started with this fierce rivalry. India scored a total of 151, with the help of Virat Kohli’s another fifty. Chasing a total of 152, both openers played brilliantly and chased the total in 18th over with the help of an unbeaten partnership of 152 runs. This was also the first time when Pakistan beat India for the first time in the World Cup. The partnership, spanning 107 balls, featured Rizwan contributing 79 runs off 55 balls and Babar adding 68 runs off 52 balls.


5. 152 - Eoin Morgan and Alex Hales vs Sri Lanka


England players Alex Hales and Eoin Morgan formed a 152-run partnership against Sri Lanka in the group match of the 2014 T20 World Cup. After England lost two wickets for no runs in the first over, Hales and Morgan steadied the innings with their stand, which lasted 93 balls. Hales scored 93 runs off 55 balls, while Morgan added 57 runs off 38 balls.
