Erik Ten Hag's first season as Manchester United manager was a success, but his roster is far from complete. With the foundation now in place under the Dutch manager, the Red Devils will likely compete in the Premier League next season. They will require significant reinforcements in a few critical areas to do this. Of course, most of this is contingent on Ten Hag and the management team's budget. However, if a new ownership is in the works, and with a slew of players eyeing the exit door, there may be potential for a true reshuffle at the Theatre of Dreams.
Many of the players they are associated with do not wind up joining the club, but when they do, it is generally with considerable hoopla and anticipation. Here are the players we believe Manchester United should target this summer.
Harry Kane
Manchester United were ready to be inventive in their chase of England's all-time leading scorer. This includes including Henderson, who is presently on loan at Nottingham Forest, into a prospective deal between the two clubs.
Harry Kane is also rumored to be interested in a transfer to Old Trafford, with the lure of championships expected to end his time at Tottenham. Kane's 25 Premier League goals this season are more than half of Manchester United's total of 49, and while his assist number is down this year, it might be attributed to a Spurs team failing to find its rhythm.
Victor Osimhen
With Manchester United needing a dominating striker up front, Victor Osimhen is also frequently linked with a move. While this would come at a high cost - £132 million, according to Il Mattino - Osimhen has stated that he has "ambition" to play in the Premier League one day. If Levy doesn’t allow Harry Kane to leave, Osimhen could be an interestingly solid addition to Ten Hag’s side.
Adrien Rabiot
Adrien Rabiot's contract with Juventus expires on June 30, 2023, making Manchester United free to sign him. United has requested that they be kept updated on Rabiot's contract issue with his present employers. Last summer, a compromise was nearly reached, suggesting that this saga may be reignited. Adrien Rabiot conducted negotiations with Manchester United in the summer of 2022 but ultimately chose to stay with Italian powerhouse Juventus.
Robin Le Normand
Robin Le Normand of Real Sociedad has quietly been putting in good performances since the 2019/20 season, and his defensive brilliance appears ready to guide La Real to achieve European qualifying in La Liga for the fourth season in a row. Le Normand is quite comfortable bringing the ball out from the back and has an excellent passing range.
Diogo Costa
With goalkeepers at the top of their game increasingly expected to become a part of the team's structure in possession, a shift between the sticks may be in order. If that is the case, United should go no farther than Diogo Costa of FC Porto, a 23-year-old who has already established himself as the first choice for both club and country. With Porto unlikely to budge, the Portuguese appear to be the last alternative if United fails to arrange other deals or misses out on targets.
