Inter Milan faced a massive setback at the mid-season as they were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League group stage after finishing 4th behind Real Madrid, Borussia Mönchengladbach and Shakhtar Donetsk. That eventually proved to be a blessing in disguise for the Milan club as they managed to stay focused on winning the Scudetto. Inter ended a decade long Trophy drought and also ended the dominance of arch-rivals Juventus who had won 9 consecutive League titles.
Next season Antonio Conte's men will be looking to take the next step and aim for European dominance after not making it to European knockouts this season.
