Bournemouth strung together an incredible run of games in 2023 to make a miraculous escape from relegation in the Premier League. Gary O’Neil took over from Scott Parker, as an interim then on a permanent role, at a time the club looked destined to move back into Championship having gained promotion last year to change their fortunes. However, the board decided to part ways with the Englishman in June to appoint Andoni Iraola as the new man in charge for the 2023/24 season. The Cherries now wish to have a better campaign ahead although the start of the schedule is a perilous one.
Opening the campaign against Conference League winners West Ham on 12th August 2023, a trip to Anfield awaits them in the second match where they suffered a record 9-0 defeat at the hands of Liverpool the previous season. If that’s not all, Bournemouth will go on to face Tottenham, Brentford, Chelsea, Brighton and Arsenal in the following five games. The first seven games could easily disjoint the side early so they have to be aware of it. Even the remaining six matches do not provide any leeway with six of the top eight teams from the past campaign to battle. Bournemouth end the season at Stamford Bridge against the Blues on 19th May 2024.
