The FPL deadline is approaching, and the managers are preparing their squads. With all the reports about possible rotations and injuries, it's important to remember that rotation is a possibility. This season has provided us with a plethora of midfield alternatives. We've selected some of the top midfield choices available across a range of price ranges, with many Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers activating their first Wildcard ahead of Gameweek 7.
We've compiled a list of our top five midfield choices for Gameweek 7:
1. Mohamed Salah (Liverpool vs Manchester City) - £12.6m
Mohamed Salah is a safe bet in Fantasy Premier League. The Liverpool stalwart owns more than half of the club and regularly performs. Mohamed Salah is one of those players that can play in any situation. In five games, the premium player has only blanked once and has already surpassed the 50-point threshold. In just six Premier League appearances, the Egyptian has five goals, three assists, and 57 FPL points. His 25 goal attempts, 22 shots in the box, and 4.38 anticipated goals (xG) are all-league highs, and he averages 9.5 points per game, the most in the league. Salah is not just a must-have, but also a candidate for the captaincy. Salah will have a fantastic chance to cement his place in the Golden Boot competition against Manchester City. Leaving Salah out of the team now would be a dangerous decision.
2. Ismaila Sarr (Leeds vs Watford) - £6.3m
Between Gameweeks 6 and 7, Ismaila Sarr was the second most purchased player. Last Saturday, he scored his fourth Premier League goal of the season as Watford fought back from a goal down to secure a draw against Newcastle United. As a result, the Senegalese winger is now third in FPL points among all midfielders (39), ahead of a tempting trip to Leeds United in Gameweek 7. Sarr will have another opportunity to improve on his previous performance when he plays Leeds away from home. This week, he'll be one of the go-to players. In the long term, Watford's fixtures appear to be favorable, and Sarr may be an excellent choice.
3. Son Heung-Min (Tottenham vs Aston Villa) - £10.0m
Despite some concerning early-season displays for Tottenham Hotspur, Son Heung-min has continued to impress, scoring three goals and amassing 32 FPL points in only five appearances. This season, Aston Villa has been one of the most outstanding teams, but they have also conceded goals. Son, and the Spurs' faltering team would enjoy the opportunity to take them on.
4. Mason Greenwood (Manchester United vs Everton) - £7.7m
Mason Greenwood has gone scoreless in his past two appearances for Manchester United this season after returning in his first four. Although he scored three goals in his first three games, he should still score well for his price. With 14 Shots in the Box (5th), 8 Shots on Target (4th), and an xG of 1.78, he is in fifth place. He's also made ten changes, each with an xA of 1.24. Manchester United hosts Everton in Gameweek 7. Rafa Benitez's team has been putting up some impressive defensive numbers. They only have 35 Shots in the Box (3rd), 21 Shots on Target (4th), and an xGC of 6.1. (3rd).
5. Raphina (Leeds vs Watford) - £6.5m
Raphinha had his finest game of the season against West Ham United in Gameweek 6, scoring his third goal of the season and almost missing a fourth with the width of the post. With an xG of 1.83, he has 19 Shots, 7 Shots on Target, and 5 Shots in the Box, while also producing 13 Chances, 2 Big Chances, and an xA of 1.58. This season, he'll almost certainly get some huge hauls. Leeds United hosts Watford this week in one of the greatest matchups of the week. He's a terrific buy for £6.5 million.
