Shivam Mavi - Shines On T20I Debut With Four-Wicket Haul

The 24-year-old Indian right-arm pacer Shivam Mavi became the third Indian bowler to claim a four-wicket haul on his T20I debut. His bowling figures are 4-0-22-4.

Shivam Mavi Shines On T20I Debut With Four-Wicket Haul

The 24-year-old Indian right-arm pacer Shivam Mavi made his international debut during the three-match T20I series opener between the hosts India and the visitors Sri Lanka in Mumbai on Tuesday (3rd January) night and played a heroic role for his team to secure a close 2-run win. He became the third Indian bowler to claim a four-wicket haul on his T20I debut.  

After Sri Lanka sent the hosts to bat first, India managed to score 162/6 in 20 overs. The 24 years and 38 days old Shivam Mavi played crucial roles in providing a good start for the hosts during the Sri Lankan innings as he took the first two wickets (Pathum Nissanka 1 and Dhananjaya de Silva 8).

Later, in the 15th over, Mavi dismissed the dangerous-looking Wanindu Hasaranga (21 off 10 balls). Maheesh Theekshana (1) was the last victim of his final over of the match as Mavi ended with the bowling figures of 4-0-22-4.

At the end of the thrilling final ball of the match, India managed to all out Sri Lanka for 160 runs (20 runs) as the hosts took the 1-0 lead in the series with that 2-run victory.

  • Youngest Indian right-arm pacer to record a T20I four-wicket haul (24 years and 38 days). Hardik Pandya was the previous record holder in this list when the 24 years and 270 days old recorded a four-wicket haul against England at Bristol on 8th July 2018.


  • Second youngest Indian right-arm bowler to claim a T20I four-wicket haul (24 years and 38 days). The leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi is on top of this list as his first T20I four-fer achievement was recorded at the age of 21 years and 336 days old (vs West Indies at Lauderhill on 7th August 2022).   


  • Fourth youngest Indian pacer to record a T20I four-wicket haul (24 years and 38 days). The top three names in this list are RP Singh (21 years and 288 days), Barinder Sran (23 years and 193 days) and Arshdeep Singh (23 years and 290 days).
