After the disappointing year 2022, South Africa are looking forward to 2023 to change their struggle period into a shining story. The year 2023 is a crucial year for Proteas.
South Africa are ready to welcome the New Year with the ongoing Test series in Australia, which is also a part of the 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship.
Then, England will travel to South Africa for an ODI series, a part of the 2020-23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. It will be a very crucial series for the Proteas as their qualification for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 are at stake.
After hosting England, Proteas will also host West Indies, as the Caribbean team will arrive in the country for a full tour.
Netherlands will also travel to South Africa to complete their scheduled matches against the hosts Proteas in the 2020-23 ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.
South Africa are strongly fighting to qualify for the 2021-2023 ICC World Test Championship Final.
The Proteas are in danger of failing to directly secure their place for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 at the end of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Super League. So, they may have to play the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup Qualifier in Zimbabwe to earn the qualification tickets for the upcoming ODI World Cup. If they successfully earn these tickets, they will appear in the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 in India in October-November.
However, before their possible commitment to the next ODI Cricket World Cup, South Africa will host the complete white-ball series against Australia.
At the end of the year 2023, India will travel to South Africa for a complete tour.
