Indian bowlers with most wickets in T20Is

Since the T20I format is the shortest format of the game and the fact that it was introduced around 16-17 years ago the number of wickets taken by the bowlers will keep fluctuating and there will be no permanent number 1 on this list so we are writing this article based on the standings as of today. There have been great bowlers who have been introduced in the 20 overs format of the game and they have picked up a lot of wickets for India in batting friendly conditions.

In the short time that India have played the T20 format of cricket there have been a fair few bowlers who have stood up for India over the years and are the current stars of the game and they are winning matches for the Indian team against all types of opposition. It is safe to say that Jasprit Bumrah is the best fast bowler in the world since he first debuted in 2016 against Australia and immediately put the world in notice firstly for his unique action and even more so because of his regular Wicket taking abilities with the ball in any given situation. His consistency is a benchmark for all the fast bowlers in this format of the game and to have an economy rate of just over 6.5 in this brutal format is incredible and there’s no doubt that he will go on to take many more wickets in his T20I career for India.

2. Yuzvendra Chahal (64 Wickets and counting):

The best spinner to have played this format for India and his figures show that to be true. He has played only 50 matches and yet picked up 64 Wickets till now and there’s no telling how many more he will get in the rest of his career. He first arrived on the scene in 2016 and his pairing with Kuldeep Yadav wreaked havoc on the entire world for a number of years and they used to pick wickets for fun . He even has a 6 wicket haul in this format which is astounding.

3. Ravichandran Ashwin (61 Wickets):

The range of Ravichandran Ashwin is staggering, to be in the Top 5 of both the test and the T20I list of the highest wicket takers shows how adaptable he is and his bowling skills are suited for the longest and the shortest format of cricket equally. His career has been in Two parts, till 2016 and then he was not in the team for a few years and only last year he was called back onto the team and since coming back he has gotten better with more experience under his belt. He will also pick up a lot more wickets before he calls a day on his illustrious career.

4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar (53 Wickets and counting):

One of the best exponents of swing bowling even in the shortest format of cricket is Bhuvneshwar Kumar. When he arrived in 2012, he was the toast of the cricketing world as he could swing the ball both inside and away from the batter and used to get then bowled or lbw out. Then his form dipped but like every champion, he bounced back from injuries and bad form to be the top bowler that he is. The fans only hope that he stays fit and he will pick up lot more wickets for India going forward.

5. Ravindra Jadeja (46 Wickets and counting):

Ravindra Jadeja is a true all round cricketer in every sense of the word. One of the best in the world at the moment for a number of years. Not only is he a great spinner but he is also extremely good with the bat and his fielding is something every opposition batter is afraid of. He is every captain’s favorite cricketer as he is a 3 in One package. His bowling stats are very good as he has picked up 46 Wickets till now and looking at how fit he is and how he is constantly improving he will take more wickets in the years to come.
