Jonny Bairstow
England opener Jonny Bairstow came in the World Cup after having a great season in the Indian Premier League (IPL). He provided with the flying start in the opening for England which proved beneficial for his side. With 532 runs in 11 mathes, including two back-to-back centuries against India and New Zealand made him the easy choice in the list.
Jason Roy
The second choice has to be Jason Roy, the other opener of England. He is one of the dangerous openers in the World Cricket right now. England’s most wins came on the back of his and Jonny Bairstow’s quickfire knocks. His 443 runs from seven matches came at a strike rate over 115 which is amazing in one word.
Alex Carey
Australia’s wicket-keeper batsman Alex Carey was one of the best 'keeper-batsman' in the whole tournament. In star-studded Australia’s playing XI, he made his own place and took the limelight for his batting and gloves work. He scored three half-centuries including a wonderful 85 in the final league match against South Africa. His knock nearly took his side to the finish line in their chase of 325. With 375 runs in 9 matches, he was the fourth highest run-getter for his side after David Warner, Aaron Finch, and Steve Smith. He played a crucial knock of 46 in the semi-final where a deadly bouncer of Jofra Archer left a cut in his chin but he continued and gave great support to his opponent.
Nicholas Pooran
Despite having a poor show in the ICC World Cup, there were quite a few positives. Nicholas Pooran’s form was one of them. At the age of 23, he showed a great temperament throughout the tournament. He ended the mega event as West Indies' highest run-getter with 367 runs in 9 matches at an average of 52.42 and a strike rate more than 100. Where others failed, he left his mark pretty well as a debutant.
Rassie van der Dussen
Although South Africa had a disappointing World Cup, their middle-order batsman Rassie van der Dussen earned praises for his batting. At the age of 30, he played his first World Cup. He scored 311 runs and ended as the second leading run-scorer for South Africa, including a career-best 95 against Australia in the final group league game. His inclusion helped his side in the middle order.
