SummerSlam 2024 was held at the Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland Ohio. There were more than 57,900 people that had come to the stadium to experience the biggest party of the summer. WWE had put one great match card and every match was a banger at this show. Every match had consequences and the match quality was stellar throughout the night. All the WWE superstars that were scheduled to take part in these matches were at their A game. There were a total of 7 Matches at SummerSlam 2024.
Let’s look at the Results of SummerSlam 2024
Liv Morgan beat Rhea Ripley for Women’s World Championship
The first match was a match between two bitter rivals for the Women’s World Championship. This match was between Liv Morgan vs Rhea Ripley. Rhea Ripley was with Dominik Mysterio at the start of the show and Liv Morgan was alone. This was a very good match where they got 16 minutes to tell a story and have a banger. Liv Morgan took advantage of the bad arm of Rhea Ripley. Rhea Ripley was at her powerful best and there were many near falls. It was at the end of the match where Dominik Mysterio showed his true Colors. He cost Rhea Ripley the match and he aligned himself with Liv Morgan. This was a shocking betrayal and Liv Morgan hit Oblivion on the steel chair to win the match. This feud is nowhere near over. Mami wants revenge and payback.
Bron Breakker beat Sami Zayn for Intercontinental Championship
This was by far the shortest match on this show. This was the match between Sami Zayn vs Bron Breakker. Their first match at Money in the Bank was a Banger but this one was particularly to make Bron Breakker look like a monster. It only took Bron Breakker 6 minutes to beat Sami Zayn and win the Intercontinental Championship. This was the crowning moment for Bron Breakker and now what he does with this championship will decide his legacy in WWE. This was the first out of 4 Title changes in the might. Bron will have a long title reign just like Gunther.
LA Knight beat Logan Paul for United States Championship
This was one of the most anticipated matches of the night. It was Logan Paul vs LA Knight for the United States Championship. This was a match where Logan Paul was the hometown boy but he was getting booed out of the building. LA Knight was given a great reception. This was a match in which LA Knight wanted to prove to the world that he was here to stay. This was a 12 minutes barn burner of a match where both men pulled out some insane moves. Logan Paul did a springboard moonsault and LA Knight jumped from the top rope. After Logan Paul tried to use brass knuckles, LA Knight hit his finisher BFT and won the match and won the United States Championship. This is his first championship in WWE.
Nia Jax beat Bayley for WWE Women’s Championship
This was the best match in the WWE career of Nia Jax. Nia Jax was motivated to perform In this match. Bayley was also eager to have an incredible match and show the world that she is still one of the best to ever do it. This was a 13 minutes match and it just kept getting better with each passing minute. Nia Jax was dominating Bayley and hitting her with new moves and Bayley being the face was the underdog. She tried to hit Nia with all her moves including a Powerbomb and a flying elbow to the chest. Tiffany Straton even tried to cash in but it was Bayley who that. Nia Jax took advantage and hit 2 Annihilators to win the match and her second Women’s Championship in WWE. She will have a long reign and it will be interesting to see her friendship with Tiffany Straton who is Miss Money in the Bank.
Drew McIntyre beat CM Punk
The only match on this show that was not for a championship. This was easily the best built feud in WWE all year. Seth Rollins was the special guest referee and both men were at their peak physical form. The crowd was loud for this match. Seth Rollins wore one of the best referee shirts of all time. Drew McIntyre got booed out of the building and CM Punk got loud cheers for his first one on one match in WWE in over a decade. This was a slow paced match where both men were trying to get at Seth Rollins for not counting to there. CM Punk looked incredible and he was hitting all his signature moves. Drew McIntyre was punishing CM Punk. The bracelet of CM Punk was an important character in this match. CM Punk could not keep his emotions in check and after 17 minutes of pro wrestling excellence it was Drew McIntyre who got the win. This feud is not finished yet.
Gunther beat Damian Priest for World Heavyweight Championship
This match has to be among the top 3 Matches of the night and definitely among the Top 3 best matches in the career of Damian Priest. This was easily the most physical match on this show. Both men were there to fight and early on the bruises were showing. Both men were hitting each other with fierce strikes and Gunther was bleeding from his chest. Damian Priest was there to fight and Gunther was at his usual best. This was a 17 minute instant classic. Both men hit each other with their power moves and during the closing stages it was Finn Balor who was out there but he quickly showed his true Colors as well as he screwed Damian Priest therefore turning heel on his brother. Gunther won the match and is now the new World Heavyweight Champion. SummerSlam has seen 4 title changes which happen once every 4-5 years.
Cody Rhodes beat Solo Sikoa for Undisputed WWE Championship
It was the main event of SummerSlam 2024 and this was a Bloodline Rules Match. This was the second Bloodline Rules Match after WrestleMania 40. It was 30 minutes of wrestling magic with everything involved. Cody Rhodes made a very special entrance with his dog Pharoah and this was the last time that Pharoah will travel outside. Cody Rhodes also met Arm Anderson who made his WWE return after many years. The first 12 minutes of the match it was one on one and it was a very good match. Solo Sikoa stepped up in the biggest match of his young career. Firstly Tama Tonga and Tonga Loa came out to help Solo Sikoa but they were taken out by the returning Kevin Owens and Randy Orton. The fans were going wild. Then Jacob Fatu took out Cody Rhodes but it looked like he injured himself. When it was looking like Solo Sikoa would win the match, then the music hit and the Original Tribal Chief Roman Reigns was back after 4 months. He was disgusted with Solo Sikoa and he speared him and Cody Rhodes won the match and retained his Championship.
