After months of speculation, Drew McIntyre finally turned heel and it was a great moment for everyone to catch on TV. The WWE fans were excited for Drew and they were ready to see him become a heel after being a face for so long. It was a long time coming and WWE played the waiting game and executed it perfectly. Drew McIntyre has been a face since 2020 meaning it has been 3 years ever since he has been a face and all the fans have loved him but it was time for a change. There are very few heel turns where WWE waits and builds the story for so long before turning them heel.
Let’s look at how WWE executed the heel turn of Drew McIntyre perfectly
Drew McIntyre is finally a heel
Drew McIntyre has been the face of the company during the most difficult time in the history of WWE during Covid when there was no crowd and no fans to cheer him on. He won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 36 when there was no one to cheer him on and neither his friends and family. It was something that was eating at him but he could not say anything because his feelings were miniscule compared to the pain the world was going through. Therefore he did the best he could and he was a great WWE Champion and he was a 2 time WWE Champion. He was the perfect representative of WWE at that time. Slowly when the crowds started coming back, he was no longer WWE champion and he saw other people winning the titles and the fans being there for them.
Drew McIntyre was a face even till a few months ago and it all started when Cody Rhodes brought Jey Uso to Raw. Drew McIntyre was one of the first men to say that Jey Uso was the same man that he was during the Bloodline and he was not alone at first. However as the weeks went by, several Raw superstars who are faces saw that Jey Uso is not the same man anymore and they started trusting him and teamed with him and the main examples of this is Kevin Owens. Drew McIntyre was not convinced at all that Jey Uso had changed. He still did not do anything as he was a face and helping the other good guys. Then he got an opportunity for the World Heavyweight Championship against Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel and this is where Rhea Ripley and The Judgement Day saw an opportunity and they started to get in his head.

Drew McIntyre was acting like a tweener which means neither a face nor a heel. He was doing what was best for him and he only helped the other faces when it was to his benefit and he refused the help of The Judgement Day at first and he told Seth Rollins that he wants him at 100%. Drew McIntyre stuck to his word but after he lost to Seth Rollins at WWE Crown Jewel, he knew what he has to do. At Raw, Drew McIntyre was acting all normal till the main event where all Judgement Day and Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn were banned, but it was Drew McIntyre who interfered and he cost Cody Rhodes and Jey Uso the tag team titles. This was the heel turn after months of building and anticipation and the payoff was incredible. Now Drew McIntyre will be added to the Team Judgement Day and make it 5 on 5 at Survivor Series WarGames. This coming Raw will be one of the biggest of the year as most likely the WWE fans will get to see the return of a Legend killer.
