He will not be able to defend his title at the Elimination Chamber in Perth because of his visa issues. He wants to become a permanent citizen of the United States. Therefore he will defend the Championship at WrestleMania 40. And Jey Uso will be the perfect challenger.

He has passed all the greats such as Bret Hart, Razor Ramon, Shawn Michaels, British Bulldog, Chris Jericho, The Miz etc. He has had banger after banger for the Championship and he has made the Intercontinental Championship one of the most prestigious titles in WWE. He was facing a lack of credible challengers for the championship and that is where Jey Uso fits perfectly.
Jey Uso is one of the most beloved WWE superstars since the past year and he has been growing as a singles Star. He has won the hearts of the WWE universe and he has made a YEET Army who wave their hands every time he comes out to the ring. Jey Uso will be the perfect opponent for Gunther and that match will sell tickets as the WWE fans want to see Two top WWE superstars going at it. Some sections of the WWE fans want Jey Uso vs Jimmy Uso but a championship match against the most dominant champion and having a chance of winning singles gold for the first time in his long career is something Jey Uso will want at the biggest stage possible. Gunther looked like he was on a collision course against Brock Lesnar but that will no longer happen due to events happening outside the Wrestling world.

Jey Uso is a fantastic wrestler and WrestleMania 40 needs some Matches so that it can match the caliber of WrestleMania 39. The promo that Gunther cut on Jey Uso on Raw was of his best ever and it looks like both men are invested in this feud. Such a big match should not happen at a Raw but should be saved for WrestleMania where it belongs.
