So , let’s look at his career and understand why his return at the 2020 Royal Rumble was the best ever.

The Debut of Edge

Edge debuted in the late 1990s and made an impact our of the gate by his promo work and his great wrestling skills. He was pushed from the start and he grew more and more with each passing week and his eagerness to learn was the best thing about him. He was not insecure of other wrestlers or his place in the card or the roster as a whole. He made everyone better by working with them.

The Brood and Tag Team with Christian

After a few years Edge was put together in a Three man group called The Brood where Edge was joined by Christian and Gangrel and they wrecked havoc in WWE and everyone loved them and at the same time was very scared of them. Their entrance alone was Among the best in WWE History and became a cult classic and the fans still to this day freak out whenever it plays. Then after the Brood Edge and Christian formed a tag team and they became one of the most legendary tag teams in WWE History and they redefined tag team wrestling with the Dudley Boys and The Hardy Boys in TLC matches. They won tag team championships together as well.

The Ultimate Opportunist

The Heel Ultimate Opportunist Edge was the best Edge at that time. He was a cold blooded heel and all the fans hated him with every fiber of their beings. He played it so well and especially in his feud with John Cena which solidified both of them as superstars. Edge slapped John Cena’s dad and he did everything to make John’s life a mess. His on screen affair with Lita was also hated by the fans as they thought he stole her from Matt Hardy. His money in the bank cash in st No Way Out was legendary and made him WWE champion.

The Retirement

In 2011, Edge started having problems in his neck and it was bothering him for a long time but there was WrestleMania 27 around the corner so he didn’t think too much about it and as a result it just grew and grew to be worse and after WrestleMania he did scans and found out that he has to retire that time and most likely would never wrestle again. It was absolutely heartbreaking for him as well as for the fans and he was out for 9 years and it looked like he would not be back but Edge had other plans.

The Greatest Comeback

In 2019, while on a bike ride in the mountains Edge slipped on his neck and it didn’t hurt him so he thought If this doesn’t hurt then what’s the harm of checking whether his neck is okay or not and every doctor he saw said that his neck is perfectly okay and he can wrestle. He told Vince and thus came the idea of the return and after Six months of preparation for the big night, it finally happened at Royal Rumble 2020 , and the fans lost it and the emotions on his face was overwhelming and since then he has gotten better as a wrestler and had great matches with Randy Orton, Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins etc and he is nowhere near done.
