The 20-year-old Indian cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal is growing up as a special cricketer who can have a strong future in Indian cricket. During the recent Duleep Trophy 2022/23 final, Yashasvi created history by putting his name on top of the two record books in Indian cricket.
Serving for West Zone, Yashasvi Jaiswal scored 265 runs during their second innings of the Duleep Trophy 2022/23 final against South Zone at Coimbatore. In that same innings, Jaiswal also completed 1000 runs in a first-class career.
After West Zone scored 270 runs in the first innings, where Jaiswal scored only one run, South Zone got a crucial 57-run lead at the end of their first innings (327).
In the crucial period of the game, West Zone batters dominated, and Jaiswal played the most important role for the team. During their second innings, Jaiswal scored 265 runs off 323 balls with the help of 30 fours and 4 sixes. Also, Sarfaraz Khan scored 127 not out while Shreyas Iyer scored 71 runs.
While West Zone declared their second innings on 585/4 by setting up the fourth innings target of massive 529 runs, South Zone were bowled out for 234 runs. So, West Zone ultimately celebrated with the latest Duleep Trophy by winning that final by 294 runs.
Yashasvi Jaiswal - Youngest Indian to score a double-century in a first-class final match
While Jaiswal completed that double-century at the age of 20 years and 269 days, the left-handed batter became the youngest Indian to score a double-century in a first-class final match.
Former Bombay cricketer Ajit Wadekar, who was also a former Indian captain, was previously holding the record for the youngest Indian to score a double-century in a first-class final match when he scored 235 runs against Rajasthan during the 1962 Ranji Trophy final. During the completion of that double-century, Wadekar was only 20 years and 354 days old.
Yashasvi Jaiswal - Fastest 1000 first-class runs by an Indian batter
Meanwhile, Yashasvi Jaiswal completed his 1000 first-class runs in just 13 innings (seven matches). The left-handed batter equalled the record for the fastest 1000 first-class runs by an Indian batter. Previously, Rusi Modi and Amol Muzumdar were jointly holding this record as both Indians had also achieved the same feat in 13 innings each.
Jaiswal has now scored 1015 first-class runs in 13 innings (seven matches).
