What will Team India need to do to transition from the IPL to the WTC Final

After the IPL was over a few days ago all the Focus of the Indian team as well as the fans has shifted to the big task at hand and that is the WTC Final which will be played at the Oval from 7th June onwards and this will be the second WTC Final for India back to back and this time the fans want an ICC trophy home after 10 years, but it will not be easy as first of all India will take on Australia in the final and they will be the favorites to win the match.

However the most important part will be the transition from the IPL to the WTC Final and the time for the transition will be ranging from 2 weeks to less than a week for some of the players in the team as the players left in batches as soon as their team in the IPL got eliminated. The transition will not be easy from the shortest forks to the longest format.

So, let’s look at what will Team India need to do:

Curb their attacking instincts

The Indian players have become used to hitting every ball and attacking every ball which they will not need to do in the WTC Final. They will need to curb their attacking instincts a lot and they will have to leave balls alone and especially outside the off stumps as the ball will be swinging and they will have to play defensively and they should only attack balls that are bad or when they have set themselves in the middle so that India does not lose a lot of wickets.

Play long innings

One more big transaction will be for the batters as they will have to play long innings when they are on the pitch and by long innings it is meant that they will have to stay for hours and play as many balls as possible so that the batters who will follow will have the less difficult balls to face and runs can be scored quickly. The batters will have to bat for 4-5 hours which would far more than a T20 match. This adjustment will be crucial in determining whether India will win the WTC Final or not.

The Bowlers will have to Bowl long spells in a day

The most difficult transition will be for the Bowlers and especially the fast bowlers who have been used to Bowling 4 overs in an innings had that too not all at once. Here in this final they will have to bowl 5-6 overs in a spell and Maybe 5 overs in 3 spells throughout the day and 20 overs in total. This will take out a lot from the fast bowlers and they will have to adjust quickly and give their body adequate rest before the WTC Final. How the fast bowlers react to this transition will determine whether India will win this final or not.
