Trent Boult - Leading Test run-scorer at no.11 batting position

New Zealand cricketer Trent Boult created a new record as a batter by becoming the leading run-scorer at the no.11 batting position in Test cricket.  

New Zealand are currently busy in the crucial three-match Test series against the hosts England, which is also a part of the second edition of the ICC World Test Championship (2021-23). They have already completed two Tests, where England beat them in both those Test matches, and the hosts have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series with one Test to go.

During the third innings of the second Test of the series at Nottingham, Trent Boult scored crucial 17 runs after coming to bat at no.11 position. With his first run in that innings, the right-handed batter surpassed the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan and became the most Test run-scorer at the no.11 batting position.

While the right-handed batter Muralitharan scored 623 Test runs at no.11, Boult has scored 640 Test runs at the same batting position.

Overall, Boult has scored 755 Test runs in 92 innings.

Most runs at no.11 in Test

On the other hand, Trent Boult is just one run behind to equal another record. With one more international run at the no.11 batting position, Boult will equal Muttiah Muralitharan’s record of most international runs at no.11. While the legendary Sri Lankan cricketer scored 793 international runs at this batting position, Boult has already scored 792 out of his total 944 international runs at the no.11 batting position.
