I was supposed not to write this but when it is test cricket for me even the uncertainties turn into opportunities.
With 0-1 down in the series and coming back with the counter attack punch from the hosts (India) to win the series by 3-1, it is not less than the fairy-tale for the young generation who have grown up in the Virat Kohli era.
Like the first test match in the border-Gavaskar Trophy, team India has repeated the heroics with new era players like Rishabh Pant and Washington Sundar in the fourth test match at the biggest cricket ground in the World to win the test series by 3-1.
Although the visitors (England) have the fair chance to level the series at the same venue where they were humiliated like never before in test cricket.
But with the start of the final test match, it never looked England was not interested to perform at all as they were looking for the loopholes and was at the back foot in every department from opposition.
After the victory the former England captain Michael Vaughan has said,
“India have been far too good ... the last three Tests they have absolutely hammered England.”
However, added further,
“If they can win in England, they are without doubt, the best Test team of this era ... but that will take some doing against the swinging ball ... #INDvENG.”
England Campaign was derailed by hosts after first test match
After white washing Sri Lanka in test series recently on the back of their captain Joe Root who was in red-hot form – England was all set to play competitive cricket against India in their territory.
But all were blown away after the first test match and visitors were performing all through the series like an in-experienced bunch of players.
With more focus on T20l cricket in this era and 2020 World Cup near, the teams are destroying the values of test cricket for the sake of money instead of the ideal brand of cricket.
Although for some it can be the victory of great potential but for someone like me who is following test cricket since the mid 90s era it is not test cricket anymore.
Test Cricket is all over in this era
The era where Shane Bond, Allan Donald, Wasim Akram and Courtney Walsh have terrified even the best in the business with the fear into his mind of getting injured very badly with career ending injuries.
Nowadays it's not cricket anymore you would hardly see the competition between bat and the ball in the batting-friendly era.
But that's another story we can go with some other day. Let's enjoy this victory of team India and place into the finals. Stay tuned with us for more updates on the never ending cricket facts and humour.
