There have been many legendary partnerships in the history of test cricket and for every one of the 10 wickets. Sometimes the openers give the batting team such a strong start that the team most likely will win the match or a partnership in the lower order saves a batting team from collapse.
A lot of batters have been involved in big partnerships in test cricket , so let’s see which are the partnerships that hold the record for each wicket.
1st Wicket- Neil McKenzie and Graeme Smith (415 Runs):
This partnership between these Two South Africa batters is the record for the 1st wicket in Test cricket history. Both these batters just kept batting against Bangladesh and both of them hit amazing double hundreds and put South Africa in a very strong position and they eventually won the match.
2nd Wicket- Sanath Jayasuriya and Roshan Mahanama (576 Runs):
This is an innings which the Indian team would want to forget ever happened and especially this partnership. Sanath Jayasuriya hit a wonderful Triple hundred and Roshan Mahanana hit a double century to make the life of Indian bowlers miserable.
3rd Wicket- Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene (624 Runs):
Both these legendary batters from Sri Lanka kept on batting and batting against South Africa and hit 624 runs together where Mahela Jayawardene hit an amazing 374 runs and Kumar Sangakkara hit 287 runs and Sri Lanka won the match quite easily.
4th Wicket- Adam Voges and Shaun Marsh (449 Runs):
This record breaking partnership for the 4tg wicket happened against West Indies and both these batters were in a mood that innings and punished the West Indies bowlers and as a result Adam Voges hit a blazing 269 runs and Shaun Marsh hit a wonderful 182 runs on the board.

5th Wicket- Sid Barnes and Sir Don Bradman (405 Runs):
Australia was in a tricky position as only Sid Barnes was the only one batting and the others got out and then came the Don and they stitched a partnership of 405 runs where both of them hit double hundreds and best England quite convincingly.
6th Wicket- Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow (399 Runs):
Both Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow were playing like it’s a ODI match in a test innings , both of them punished the then great South Africa attack and Ben Stokes got a double hundred in more than 100 strike rate and Jonny Bairstow hot a blazing 150 runs.
7th Wicket- Denis Atkinson and Clairmonte Depeiaza (347 Runs):
West Indies lost quick wickets in this innings before these two batters came out and rescued the innings and build a great partnership where Denis hit a double hundred and Clairmonte hit a great century.
8th Wicket- Jonathan Trott and Stuart Broad (332 Runs):
To say England was tottering before this partnership in this match would be an understatement as both these batters batted our of their skins to take England to a respectable total where both of them hit scores of over 150 and England won that match.
9th Wicket- Mark Boucher and Pat Syncox (195 Runs):
Both these batters rescued South Africa in this match against Pakistan and especially Pat Syncox who batting at number 10 made an amazing century to put South Africa in control of that match.
10th Wicket- Joe Root and James Anderson (198 Runs):
During this match Joe Root was the it batter standing tall fir England until James Anderson came out to bat at number 11 and he ably supported Joe Root and they hit a 198 run stand for the last wicket where Joe Root hit a century and Jimmy Anderson hit a wonderful 81 runs.
