Cricket is known as the game of Uncertainties. Whose quote has been proved right today by the first session of the second test match between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. After the first test match that ended in no result, the two teams reached Dhaka for the decisive result of the series. The hosts’ strong batting put Bangladesh at the top of the line in the first test match. But still Sri Lanka managed to draw the game.
The hosts put Sri Lanka in trouble with a knock of 365 runs but Sri Lanka’s second innings saw a subtle look with the skill that saved Sri Lanka from defeat. A solid start was expected from the hosts in the second test as well, but it is from here that the pattern of the result of the second test match has started.
The second ball of the game and the host’s opener, Joy was clean bowled by Rajitha to give Sri Lanka their first breakthrough. Bangladesh were yet to emerge from it with the first blow that Fernando almost shook the hosts by dismissing Tamim.
Bangladesh lost their five wickets in just 24 runs, including the wicket of Shakib. Shakib was caught in front of the wickets by Rajitha who got out for zero. Out of the five wickets, three wickets were taken by Rajitha and two by Fernando. Bangladesh’s three batsmen were dismissed for zero and could not even open their account.
It looked like the hosts’ innings was over but Rahim and Liton Das took the lead and saved Bangladesh and emerged from embarrassment. There was a partnership of more than 150 runs between the two batsmen and indicated to take the team towards a better score. Both the batsmen are still at the crease and the final session of the day is on.
Liton ten is unbeaten on 83 and Rahim is still on 77 and the hosts are close to 200 runs. Sri Lanka will be on the lookout for a few more wickets while the hosts would like to retain the pair tomorrow as well. Sri Lanka have used five bowlers and they have definitely missed the experience of bowlers.
