The two time Wimbledon champion and currently world number 3 , Rafael Nadal had decided to skip this year's Wimbledon championship. This came as a huge shock to all the tennis lovers across the world. Even the organisers feared its consequences because the government had allowed the organisers to hold a near capacity crowd in the stadium.
Rafael Nadal took Twitter to announce this decision. He mentioned it as a hard one to take as he wants to participate and win every single tournament. He said that there had been two weeks between Roland Garros and Wimbledon. The transition between clay and grass isn't easy as the first surface is slower. He said that right now he needs to prevent every tension on his body especially at this time of his career. He said that he took this decision alongwith his coaches and said that he is focusing on his mid-term and long term goal. His goal is to prolong his career as much as possible. Nadal was forced to take this decision because French Open was delayed to
allow the tournament to take place under fewer coronavirus restrictions.
Many critics thought that Nadal took this decision to avoid this championship as his record is not as good as in other tournaments. Many fans were disappointed with his decision as usual. Everybody wanted their favourite player to see them on the court, especially after Wimbledon
was suspended last year due to coronavirus.
