Ons Jabeur is yet to secure grand slam glory in professional tennis despite consistently ranking as one of the top players in the WTA throughout the 2020s.
Jabeur broke the top 20 in August 2021 and hasn't looked back since reaching a high as world number two in June of the following year.
The Tunisian has firmly established her place as one of the standout players in the world, yet hasn't managed to get over the final hurdle at any of the four major events.
She's appeared in three grand slam finals and was defeated in each.
What are the chances of Jabeur avenging her trio of final shortcomings and achieving the ultimate tennis glory in 2024?
Alright Beijing I’ll see you tomorrow @ChinaOpen pic.twitter.com/XpRZfIeFw8
Australian Open glory is a significant longshot
The opening major of 2024 certainly does present the greatest likelihood of glory for the greatest African player of all time.
Jabeur doesn't have an eye-catching record on Australian soil, having only gone as far as the quarter-final in the past. According to the latest tennis Australian Open odds, she's a significant outsider to earn a victory this year and is currently offered at a price of 25/1.
The daily tennis betting tips suggest the likes of Aryna Sabalenka and Jessica Pegula are more likely to win the competition, especially out of those more experienced stars set to compete. Jabeur certainly has a realistic chance of getting over the edge in a grand slam during 2024, if she can make an impact Down Under, this could inspire greater confidence in the other tournaments to follow.
Roland Garros' clay courts do not suit Jabeur
The French Open is another tournament in which Jabeur has failed to historically succeed. The clay courts used at Roland Garros often pose problems for any player who deploys a fast-paced style of playing the game.
Jabeur is well-known for her aggressive forehand swing even when under immense pressure, so the French courts are far from the most ideal surface.
Like the Australian Open, Jabeur has made a single quarter-final run in France before, but besides that, she's offered consistent early-round exits. Any major success for Jabeur this year is sure to arrive on a hard or grass court in the northern hemisphere.
Jabeur has experience of finals at Wimbledon and in the US
Wimbledon and the US Open have proven to be the tournaments that unlock Jabeur's peak form. In 2022, she reached the final at both, and in 2023, she secured a rare record in the women's game of back-to-back final appearances at Wimbledon.
It would certainly be fitting if Jabeur could make it third time lucky on English soil. The odds suggest she has a realistic chance of writing that narrative too - she's offered at 10/1 to finally grasp Wimbledon success.
The final open of the year in the United States will also involve Jabeur as a frontrunner - she's offered at odds of 11/1.
Ons
Tunisian tennis player Ons Jabeur made consecutive Grand Slam Tennis finals in 2022 at Wimbledon and the US Open and returned to the Wimbledon final in 2023.
Looking forward to seeing her play this year. We are rooting for you!!! Let’s go Ons pic.twitter.com/EFsdPhR7G3
Jabeur's highest chances of grand slam success this year will undoubtedly present themselves at the events held during summer and beyond.
The Tunisian would surely be overjoyed with success at either, although Wimbledon glory would arguably be most satisfying after she has fallen short in the final two years in a row.
Jabeur's peak playing days are finite, and 2024 may be her greatest chance to secure a grand slam victory before it's too late.
